What time is Christmas dinner?

Hi gang,

I've been curious about this for a while. For me Christmas dinner is never before 5:30 or 6:00. For Christine's family, 2 to 3 is the norm. From talking to a few other people, this isn't all that unusual - just for me, it is. What time is your typical Christmas dinner?

Martin

We have two of them.

We have christmas eve in which we spend at my inlaws. We eat around 5 or 6. Christmas morning is spent at my parents in which we have a brunch type meal. this gives the wife and I some time int he late afternoon to get home and get everything put away and relax for a few hours.

Like martin our big (as in important) meal is on Christmas eve, though it starts earlier. A fish dinner. (Italian tradition)

On Christmas day the dinner usually starts around 1pm and finishs 9 or 10pm. This one isn't tradition though. We just like to eat.

We usually free-form Christmas dinner. It's served whenever all the dishes finish cooking, whether that be noon, 3:12 PM, or 7:39 PM. This year's was around 7ish, but has been as late as 10 PM and as early as 1ish.

Finish time depends on when we wake up (no kids to interrupt a late sleep-in), and haul up off our derrieres after coffee and begin preparation.

You can afford the luxury of doing it this way when you have no inlaws or other gaggle of family/friends coming over.

ACLU would have called it a 'Holiday dinner'

The ACLU would not have called mine that--since they won't ever get invited to it.
