Question
Puddle Twin XL

Has anyone ever built one of these? This looks like a great project for FFF. I'm thinking about 2 BP21's for power.
here (Look in the downloads section for the plans)
Thanks Airboatflyingshp for the links.

Hi Pondmaster. Thanks for the great plans! Do you think the BP21 will have enough power for the XL?

Seasons Greetings Johann thank you for putting up the added links a very site you have there, would you add them to the Free plans and links thread or would you prefer I edit one of my entries??

I'm asking as if we can get it fixed at the top of the Water-planes section it could become a great resource ....searching through countless forums and the web trying to find stuff isn't fun. Especially for those on dial up so if we can give them some good feeds from one place all the better. Its already been done in some of the other forums where I look eg Vintage.

If you follow my postings in power systems. ....started by Vintage1 .......you will find that I have been trying to find out some details about the Jamara S400 cobalt motors for geared application....I have family and friends in Germany ...I ask as if these are as they seem they could be the perfect upgrade motor for many of Ivan Pettigrews designs that rely on s400/480bb geared can motors. Trouble is no one over here has had hands on them to evaluate them in depth...a lot of people have been put off by some poor high current cobalt motors that have been previously released.
In contra props Im trying to see If can build a Supermarine Seagull 138 with a working contra prop motor...... mad? Perhapse a little .

Delighted to here from you and reply at at your convenience.....
Have a good Xmas and New year

Thanks and seasons greetings to all!

In the meantime I noticed the entries in the free plans and links thread, they are absolotely o.k. as they lead directly to my pages.

To get the "free plans and great links" thread fixed at the top of the Waterplanes forum is a great idea, maybe one of the mod`s can do that for us?

@Figure9: I am sure that 2 BP21 brushless outrunners on a 3 cell lipo pack will have enough power for the Puddle Twin XL, they give you appr. 42.0 oz / 1200 grams of thrust...

@Airboatflyingshp: Sorry, I am not familiar with Jamara Cobalt motors, maybe this link could help:

Hi,

i am the "Designer" of the Puddle Twin II.

The original plan is a 1,1m (43,3") version with fly great with 2 Speed 300 7,2V with Guenther Props and 2s Kokam 910.

For those who want a larger plane i have resized the plan to 1,43m (56,3") wingspan. This size is similar to the TwinStar. It should have enough power with 2 Speed 400 6V with Guenther Props an 8 Cell NiMH.

Here is a Video of the small version.

Greetings Roland

Hi johann thanks I dont know how /who is the moderator but ...additions are welcome ...I cannot for some reason upload links or photos at the moment so Im worried it might drop off, and that would be a waste ...so add something.
I found the factory link some time ago thanks we need more detail than they suppply from someone whose tested them in a geared set up.

A little bit of foam bashing, and this is what I have so far.

@Figure9: Well done! Keep us informed.

@Vyceroy: Well spotted, the design of this plane is "stolen" from the Grumman G-44 Widgeon. One of my favorite waterplane (like most of the Grumman Birds)

With kind regards, Roland
