Balsa Products test stand

I saw a little test stand on the BP website that included a simple lever system and a a scale to measur thrust. Anyone have any experience with these or plans for something better? How accurately would this measure thrust? I assume it would probably work for relationship purposes.

This design has been around for some time and the kit is a simply constructed and functional system. It measures thrust well. If you do a search in the construction forums you'll find more plans for the same idea, but then you've got to go and cut all the pieces and ensure 90 degree alignment. I've bought and used the unit a lot for testing motor thrust - I like it.

You can try making this one - I've calibrated it carefully and it is accurate. The BP one, to my mind, is a bit narrow and I'm not sure how frictionless it is (mine uses high quality ball-bearings for the axle).
