Cool
First Video Test of Broadcast 360 mount

My latest tool in my AP toolbox was a year in the making (mostly securing the funds). It is a Century Predator SE Gas Heli with a Helicam solutions Broadcast 360 mount.

The Mount has carried my Olympus E-300 DSLR and My rather portly Sony TRV320 Digital 8 camcorder.

The mount is completely autonomous and is controlled with the new Spectrum 2.4ghz radio. So far the system works in concert with my BWV 200mw downlink with out interference. Permanently attached is my Black Widow Video Flex Wave TX, Fromeco 2400mAh Lithium ion pack and Fromeco Regulator. I also have a removable stanchion for my Prism IR shutter switch.

The broadcast 360 has retractable legs so you can pan 360 degrees without obstruction. Great for hovering into the wind and having a subject that is to the side or behind.

The helicopter is a proven AP ship and has no problem lifting the 7 plus pounds of camera and mount.

More to come when I coordinate cam operators and find some scenery to shoot... Maybe the snow covered Sierra! Yes...?

If you want to see the first test video you can download the Broadband Version here. 30 plus meg

A Lowres 11 meg Version is also available.

The backpack receiver system works well with the helicam. The operator can sit comfortably and aim the camera. I will post more on the complete setup with pics soon.

Cheers
Bert

Hey Spin... yes it is a road...closed for quite sometime. The cracks in the concreat are Grand Canyon scale size to our models!

I did get a chuckle from your post...

Qual... It's there I just need to run a pigtail for the video camera. I just threw the camera on to see what I could get... Albert was getting the hang of "flying" the camera about the time we had to pack up.

This is way fun!

Cheers

Wait a minuet, you mean roads arenít suppose to have Grand Cannon sized cracks in them. Those come standard around here, we also have pot holes with kangaroos at the bottom.

Mmmm, very nice setup you got there. Love the retracting undercarriage too! Can't wait to see the results when you've got the downlink working!

Bert,

Way cool.

I loved about 40 some seconds in when it caught its own shadow on the ground, cool to see that thing flying with the retracts up.

REally cool when you set it down at the end and then we could see the tail and see that Albert was actually shooting out the rear.

Nice setup.

Very nice, my guess is you'll have a blast with this system, and probably make some money to pay it all off! Keep us posted on how it goes, and keep the videos coming, maybe next time we can see some pretty scenery!

Wonderful team effort and I really enjoyed the sensation while viewing that high speed pass at the 3 min. mark. It really made me feel like I was inside the heli shooting the video.

That Predator is a nice platform, saw one for sale at a local heli event this past summer and almost pulled the trigger. Ya gots some great equipment on that ship so we'll be looking forward to more videos!

Congratulations on a fantastic start with your Heli A.P. set-up.

Thanks Guys! If the Weather turns sunny while I am not away at work I promise to get some scenery worth posting! Right now I am stuck inside with high winds and intermittent rain showers outside.

Ö I just heard THUNDER!

Plus the added complexity of the heli operation forces me to have a camera operator Ö I found 2.. but they are away on Christmas vacation.

Öyou guys on RCG will be the first to see anything worthy of posting!

Cheers
