Herr 1/2A Piper J-3 Cub (My love for the Cub)

I have been building a Herr Piper J-3 Cub , I found that Herr kit Cub is easy and simple to built (The instruction sheet, can be used for something else, make awful lot a headache) But the only thing about this Herr 1/2A Piper J-3 Cub is that it lacks accessibility to the equipment area. By making a door, following the scale plan, it can be accessed to, but my main concern is not accessibility, but transport.

The wing designed to how Herr planned the Piper J-3 Cub to be, called for 19 forgotten plan of a joinned wing design, as one whole piece, where it is waiting for something to unfold it in half. So, a task of unfolding the wing became my rebuilding modification to the wing.

Thanks Dreamer,

GHMBO, told me about you making a door on yours. How are you doing it, and what will you hinged it with?

Batter hatch will be my next mod.

I'm hinging it with the same hinges I'm using for attaching my wings... they're micro pin hinges, though I forget the name brand.

(pause)

OK, just found them and took a picture. Here you go!

Man Dreamer,

I just bought those same hinges today, and also planning to put it on the wing, as well, as the door. Hehehehehe (I was thinking making one too, but not until the first major crash (knock on wood*)

White

Genovia,

I really like the white covering. Also, the addition of the J-3 and other trim have a nice stylish look. You always have nice looking planes!

How is the balance looking?

Thanks to Inari's thread about decals, that was a true help in getting the right kind of adhesive stickers for making prints.

Roger,

The Balance? CG? (I am hoping the battery will play it's role in configuring the CG)

So far, here's what I have done so far, and my target date is tomorrow and I am closing in to it's final date of assembly Tomorrow will be it's day in the air

Let me start with the system. The receiver is my old Futuba FP-R127DF. weights more than the HAS-3MB (Hitec), but by taking the covers off, the weight came as close to the Hitec Micro receiver. To avoid complications, such as the unpredictable crash. I covered it with plastic cover and srunk to fit. The servos are in a removable tray, just in case if major repairs have to be done to the Piper in the future. Easy access to things is my point, after learning from the other Cub that I have, this J-3 is hassle free
