S&B P-51D Mustang

With my new S&B Thunderbolt ( http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=443278 )
I also got myself a new Mustang. It took some more time to get to fly right, I had missjudged the GC, but now it flies. I got 3 good flight dispite the bitting cold. 3s1250 with a speed 400 7.2 Volt. Same as the thunderbolt but noticably slower!!! I think the Mustang is the my nicest looking plane in the air. Every low pass I am mentaly catapulted back into the 40 with my mustang hot in pursuit of some Bf-109! I once was so stunned in a flyby against some nice clouds that I almost forgot to pull out of the dive! Spinner will be retrofitted

I love my Mussy. It gose like a bat out of hell with a brushless li-poly setup. U have to go brushless to see what they can really do. The only thing is that the EPP doesnt leave the nicest finish but still they look very very very nice and wat they might lack in looks (which i dont think is any) they make up in performence.
Go to the gallery and have a look.

In flight you do not see the wrinkles

In flight you do not see the wrinkles, so I do not realy care. I agree that brushless is an option, but I am very happy to fly them with a simple speed 400.

Kesreel,

Don't know if you saw this post http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=404702 but as I recall you built a real similar Sea Fury. Took a it to sort out, but flies real nice.

Enjoy

I scanned the flames from some car decals and then adjusted the size as required and printed them out on decal paper. Some times it works and sometimes it don't. Happily these came out really nice! I have to say that once I got it sorted out the Sea Fury is a real nice flyer and hte paint scheme is really stunning! A better flyer than the S&B FW-190 and almost as forgiving as the S&B Komet. I have a ME-262 coming up soon.

By the way, speaking of BF-109's, there is a real nice "Emil" at the Swiss Air Force Museum in Zurich.

Enjoy

Very right you are..

Yes, the Swiss Airforce museum is great: these are two threads I made about it with lot of pictures. Sadly the airbase where the museum is is closing down. Yesterday the last F/A-18 took off for a mission from Dübendorf.

Very nice virtual tour Kestrel. One of our business partners is located in Winterthur. They know I am an airplane nut so they took me one day to the museum at lunch time. We literally ran through the museum, but I enjoyed it immensely. I tried going back later but the hours are really strange. Regrettably we did not get to see the JU-52 though wwe did get to see some F/A-18's take off.

I later had the opportunity to see the Swedish Air Force museum. Very nice also!

Enjoy
