Question
Scratch built design?

I would like to build from scratch a 1/8 scale truck with my son. (Have never been a big kit person).
However I am not very knowledgeable with design specs or 'typical' construction used for monster trucks. I have seen many pics on this forum from what looks like scratch built trucks. And there sem to be many parts and fabrication suppliers all around.
Are there any references I can go to for specs that work, or is it a matter of having a kit (*sigh), and learning from that?

Thanks
Scott

Scratch building is a big project for 1/8 scale. Bigger than you think??? You will invest more time and money buying the tools and parts than buying a kit. 1/8 scale is cheap to get now. Larger scale 1/4 is the best size to scratch build. Parts are no longer around or are real hard to find.

Thanks.

That makes plenty of sense. And I am sure my son might not have the patience for it. Probably gonna have to go the way of the kit.
