Motor for a Wemotec micro fan?

I would like to find a motor with a 2mm shaft for my wemotec micro fan that would give me 13-18oz of thrust.

Any suggestions?

Why are you concerned about the shaft. From what I have heard, get a razor 300 and a fitting mount for 3mm shaft (I think that motor has a 3mm axis)

wait a second. 18 ounces thrust. Maybe wait for somebody else to reply. That is quite a lot and I suppose that motor would also have a larger shaft diameter...

Chris,
I'm not familar with the razor motors which model would you recomend?
I'm thinking about putting two fans in a small jet that shoud weigh in around 22-26 oz and would like a thrust ratio greater than 1:1

Chris,
I just did a search on Razor motors and found the website. He is no longer in buisness.

I use a Hyperion Y22s 6000 kv with 3s lipos and measured about 12.5 ozs of thrust. Go with the Y22L 5000 kv and I'm sure your get at least 15+...

Here's a thrust test on a 11 oz AUW plane: http://www.salc.rchomepage.com/videos/BanditThrust.wmv

Sal,
That looks great, what kind of amps are you pulling with that setup?

I use a MiniAC 12/15/16 in an Alfa Mig with good results on 4s LiPo, and got interested enough to run MotoCalc to see what "picard1" might be looking at using the MiniAC in a MicroFan.

The MiniAC motors have 2.3mm shafts and would fit into the MicroFan.

The "problem" I see (using MotoCalc) is that to get 18oz of thrust you will need upwards of 70,000rpm/400watts to do it. The MiniAC 12/15/12 would do this at circa 23Amps on a 5s LiPo. No sweat there.

Would the MicroFan be happy or safe at this RPM? Hmmm.......Don't know.........stand back. Kevlar fan housing anyone?

Would the motor (any motor) last at that RPM? Hmmmm.......Don't know

I'll bet it would surely sound like a hoover on methamphetamine!

Maybe Roccobro wants to branch out to investigate.

If you are a little creative, check out my thread, I use a Mega 16/7/3 with 3s TP 2100s and get over 17oz of thrust with a good inlet ring. I have This setup in my SuperBandit and it goes like stink This Motor is rated for 30 amps I pull 27 WOT and it hardly gets luke warm. I got over 53,000 rpm with the Prolites.

I just got done testing a "new" Himax/Wemo microfan combo from Randy at Dynamo Electrics. On 3s it pulled 13A max on TP g2 1900's. On 4s PQ 1800's it pulled max of 20A. I'll make a thread with the info I got and post the link here when done.

Mike's (Speed and Power )- I am interested in the longevity of the motors at these rpms as I was reading 56k on these 4s runs and almost 70k on the Alfa fan stuff.

The Razor 2500 on 5S with a heatsink is a very powerfull microfan combination.

Razor may temporarily be shut down but those little motors are incredible. I have 5 razor 2500's.
