Like everyone else, I was bummed when the weather turned towards winter. But like always, I try to make the most of it. We installed a set of skis on our Hanger 9 Arrow trainer last year and had a blast. Here's what I've done for this year:

The skis are made by DuBro. I only had to bore two holes in each ski so that the skids would slide through. I also installed a thin piece of carbon fiber rod between them to keep them from twisting.

Snow? Bring it on!

Looks good, but how does it affect the handling?

Does the T-rex feel weird with the skis mounted?

One nice side effect is it probably reduces tail wag, because there's more yaw inertia...

They only weigh about 1 oz, so there's not much to them. In level forward flight, I haven't noticed much difference. When you're moving forward and dip the nose down, it tends to accentuate the motion, so I have to be careful of that.

That's cool. I'm gonna have to give it a try. Last year, my Trex would just sink.

Great we just got 3 inches of snow too! I have just been flying un top of it! Great idea!

Why not just practice your spot landing skills and clear a 2x2 foot square in the snow to take off and land from ?

That is an awesome idea, its a very clever to do ...kind of like water proofing and putting lights on one of my planes so the weather can never stop me

Speaking of snow, we're expecting some over the next few days. I know this isn't the best forum for this type of vehicle, but I designed and scratch built a little snow speeder this afternoon.

I tested it out scooting around on the hardwood floors in the house. When the snow hits, I'll be flying the Blade CX inside, and shooting around the speeder outside. BTW, my 7 year old son had a blast with the improvised speeder in the house tonight.

How does it turn?

there's no snow in LA but there lots in Mt High, i just went snowboarding there, it was freakin awesome. Cold as #### tho, my hydration pack froze up on me.

niceee . I have to cover the RX, GYRO, servos & build one of these skids before I go out flying .
