Hi Folks. I can't seem to find the earlier thread on this. Anyone know when they will be making it here?
Thanks!

Hi Tim and thanks! I guess I will have to go get another zero in the meantime! Broke my gear drive nosing in this morning on my 14th flight with it. Since it has to be ordered!!! well you get the logic... Man this is a hardy plane. Came in like a drill press. Had my 8 year old talking to me the entire flight. Just enough lack of concentration and smack... Bent the cowl; which popped right back in place. Busted the prop and broke the gear drive; which is very repairable. If that would have been my albatros or ME109 it would have been packing material...Keep it up GWS..
Best,
Steve

smb, we are in the same boat... I broke quite a few gws 10x8 props.. now i use the gws 9x7... it does not have the power of the
10x8 but no more broken heart... i meant broken prop... that 9x7
is pretty good to cruise the Zero around and some mild looping, rolling... The Zero provides tone of pleasure for me while I am waiting for the coming GWS A10, spit, 109... and where is the C130? Are you going to put it on the list soon GWS?

I agree Tim. I have flown for 2 years now. Started with a zag, then a zag400. Could not reisit the call of the warbirds so I went through a string of kits while I honed in my skills. Had 2 very underpower 280 planes. Both eindeckers, one from Hobbly Lobby and one from Hangar 9. Never really had any success with them. Then, I got bit by the scorpio bug. have had 2 albatros and my recently retired 109. The 109 lasted 6 months (50 plus flights) and numerous crashes. Some pilot error but a lot of them wind induced. I guess being too excited to fly and not waiting for the winds to drop is pilot error as well!!!! Have a terry that is a great flyer and can handle wind with ease. Still have one albatros and a TM in the box. However, it will be very hard to go back to any of them after the zero. I have always been excited with this hobby but the zero has taken it to another level!! Well I guess it is off to the lhs to get another one today. By the way, my lhs suggested a 10-7 prop which is what I will replace my broken prop with. Since I just broke it this morning, I have yet to replace it and try anything else..What do you think about the 10X7?
Best,
Steve

steve, I did not use the landing gear and land my Zero on grass. The main reason is the Zero looks much better, cleaner in the air w/o landing gear. So in my case , the smaller diameter on the prop really helps on landing. I like the 9x7 for just cruising around, The duration seems longer with it though.

I thought about nuking the landing gear. However, the soccer field we fly on really is hard pack and not much grass. I was affraid that I would have to put so much tape on it to keep it from getting chewed up on a belly land that the plane would be too heavy. I did ditch the stock wheels for some nicer looking ones off of one of my former eindeckers and I beefed up the wire with some spruce formers for reinforcement. I really did want to fly it without the gear but there really is not much grass. Would find another field but this one is huge and a 3 minute walk from my house. I will post a report after I fly with the 10X7. Have a great day and thanks for taking the time to answer my question...

OK I got three flights this morning with the 10X7. My LHS did not steer me wrong. It worked great. in fact, the zero seemed to have even more pep. Acrobats were more authoritative and loops much easier. It is an APC prop that does not have the flex that the GWS one has. Plus, it's not ORANGE!!! Give it a shot. I am not an expert on prop physics. I do know that the smaller the prop, the faster the plane or prop rpm with less thrust. Think I will go buy a few more of these! Also, it was a bit windier today and it still handled it. By the way, has anyone changed thrust angle for a bit more down on the zero. With 4 quarters on the cowl, it still wants to climb!! Still a blast to fly. I am getting another today so I have one to fly while batteries charge and motor cools on the first one!

Hey Burgan the more the merrier!!!! Plus, it's not even football season yet!! That is the only sport that counts right???? If you are planning to come to austin to check out some of the LHS's, the best is Cedar Park Hobby. They have a website so you can get some directions. Hobby Town South at 360 and South Lamar is the second best. HTS has a few more kits than Cedar Park but Cedar Park has a whole lot more parts like batteries, props, motors, etc... All of them are open 7 days a week but none open before noon on Sundays.

Tim... I am running 7 cell 600 nicads. The pack is at the high end of what GWS suggests. I am not seeing any real heat related problems, etc. I am running a 10AMP BEC. Both flights this morning were in the 6-7 minute range with the petal to the metal the entire flight..

At least the Zero got made what ever happened to the A-10 I don't think we we are ever going to see it how long has it been now???? I have been using all APC E-props with great results on all my planes. Have found the best is the 9-7 can be used on about anything.

hey ceo

your place it at vendor forum, here is for fliers only. Your business of promoting products is not to be here at all

Hey eflightmeister,

Lighten up on Mr. Lin - in this case he was not simply promoting products for no apparent reason, but answering the thread title.

Personally I'm far more likely to buy kits from a vendor who is willing to come on Ezone and discuss their product which is probably why I've got two Picostick, two TigerMoths and a Zero (and two Switchbacks from Doug with a MiniFlash likely in the near future).

OK I know Mr Lin can "lay it on a bit thick" sometimes but I just get the feeling that he's as excited and enthusiastic about eflight as the rest of us and just wants to talk about it, and specifically his contributions, at every opportunity - nothing wrong with that as long as it doesn't turn into blatent commercialism.
