Mass Cox Micro Warbird sortie at SMALL steps 2006

Since so many of us are doing the new Cox Micro Warbirds, lets plan a mass micro warbird flight at SMALL Steps 2006 in Little Rock, AR.

I'd love to see a mass of these models darkening the sky a little bit...

Perhaps we can get special permission to put up 20 or more of these as a one time thing and bypass the 6 flight station rule just for the mass flight. So, everyone use a good rx unit...

Photo coverage for RC Groups, of course.

Anything warbird in this size range of 20" span or less would be fine..not just the Cox models.

What do you think?

Park, Larry, Paul, Richard, other SMALL regulars et al?

A fine idea! And given the great price on these planes I wouldn't be surprised to see 20 of them there this year.

Tom or Paul, can you provide the details on SMALL Steps 2006? When and exactly where in Little Rock?

I have not heard the details yet. The club in Little Rock has a new field about 20 minutes up I-40 in Conway, AR.

Historically, the event is the first weekend in June.

If you do a search for SMALL Steps here in the forums, you can get an idea of the fun and activity up there.

Getting back to the mass warbird sortie...I have this vision of a cloud of these things buzzing down the field together....I hope the event likes the idea...

Thanks, Thomas. A warbird sortie sounds great. I'd love to see a flight of Spitfires. A BOB recreation.

The location and dates for SMALL 2006 are not decided yet. As Tom said the host club lost the wonderful field they had adjacent to Burns Park. The new field is pretty raw right now and not likely to be in much better shape by spring.

There is some talk that it may be hosted by a different club which has a nice field about 15 minutes south of Little Rock. I'll let you know when the decision is made.

Yes, you do!

Perhaps we could rehearse the mass flight at the 114th Toys for Tots on Dec 10...or at the Sherman event in April.....

I'm in for it. P-40 is ready and will try out the Corsair before SMALL. Will change out the GWS recivers though for micro-stamp Bergs.

Warbird flights.....

Sounds great... hope the wind is down a bit from last year but these guys seem to handle it pretty well.

Tom, add my name to the count for the Cox flight, may end up having all up and flying by then they fly so nice. Hopefully will have new 2.4 gig receivers in all so mass launch would be much easier. A flight of Jugs or Hawks would be a hoot. Cox get on the stick and get the competition out there, need something to chase around the sky.

With such a showing it might behoove Cox to have a booth there! Has anyone contacted Cox regarding this? They should know. It could only be benificial to them and their efforts to get as much coverage for these little giants.

I have been in touch with the Cox folks, per above, and there is a chance they might attend, but are unlikely to have a booth.
