Question
WemoTec MiniFan - 16/25/2 vs 2W-20

Well, I've got an EAM F-15 with 2 minifans that's goin together SOON
Here's my dilemma.
There's 2 HET 2W - 20's mounted in the fans right now.
I've got 2 Mega 16/25/2's sitting NEXT to the fans.
Which pair do I use?? I haven't bought lipos or ESC's yet as I want the best performance and figured I better decide on motors first.
ANY input appreciated.
Thanks!

Brian

Yeah, I've been following the F-15 thread. I'll look for the other.
Thanks Alex!

i do remember the cells. using the 16/25/2 going for a lightweight set up he was using 5s 2500 PQ XP packs which weigh 320g.

and now using http://www.flightpower.co.uk/proddet...p?prod=4200015 which are very similar performance cells. I spoke to flightpower they said there sonic welded, and that they are made for them by the same people in korea who make the PQ XP's

at 20C i'd guess they'd need a Serious amount of cooling! but for example with the 16/25/2 on 5s you'd be running 14C static at full throttle as the motor is ~35amps in a minifan on 5s. so comfortable and according to Paul whose started using them performance is good http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=115

Thanks Alex

yes the 16/25/2 is the way to go for sure.

Im using two of them in an A-10 on two 5s PQ 2500 XP packs draws about 34 amps per motor which is nothing really. But im getting 1.2 kg of thrust per fan. REALLY good intakes help as well.

I am also nearly ready to fire up my 1.8 meter long SR-71 black bird using two 16/25/2's but im going to run them on 6s 1p 3700 flight power li-pos. They are rated at 74 amps continuous and i think i will be drawing about 75-76 amps with the voltage drop. this will boost power and reduce the weight however throttle management will be needed.

I have some of the FP li-pos and they have impressed me 100% im running a 1200 3s at 24 amps thatís 20C and the 9v cut will only come in after I have used 1150 mlh. thatís awesome performance.

So to answer your question go the 16/25/2ís and either on 5s 34 amps or 6s 40-42 maybe (havenít tried 6s yet) but will soon.

I search a powersetup for my Savage Su-27, so how much thrust did the mega gives with 6s?

Is that a problem for the Motor? too much amps?

Thanks

Another viable option would be the 16/20/2 on 4S. That will give you roughly 625 watts in the minifan and save a little weight on batteries. My F-15 flies fine @ 1/2 - 2/3 power on my 1400 watt 2W-20 setup. The main difference is the price of the motors. Since the Mega is a more efficient motor the actual output power is probably about the same for both.

Yeah, I saw those. Their supposed to be the "perfect" motor for the MiniFan.
BUT, I gotta use the 2 16/25/2's in front of me
Thanks!

OK that 75 amps is an estimate for both motors !!!

The mega should be fine on 6s and if its on its own li-po it could draw about 40- 42 amps. You would obviously have to use throttle management ect and definitely let the motor run on 10% throttle for 1 minute after every landing to let the motor cool down.

As for thrust I havenít measured it yet im sorry but when I do I will let you know.
