Warren, that plane is awesome! I have some spare FPV equipment if you're interested...1280mhz Vee antenna and 1280mhz video receivers and patch or biquad antennas. You'd still need goggles or monitor...and I'd recommend at a minimum a basic OSD and a long range RC transmitter/receiver at some point.

Thanks Adam... yeah I'm not sure I really want to drop any money on FPV jsut yet... it's one of those things that once you spend a little money on it, you start spending a lot of money on it

Adam, here's the pictures of my launcher. The servo operates a holdback latch which releases the pin that holds the ring on the bungee. This means that the servo sees absolutely none of the 15lbs load that the bungee exerts on the launcher. It's also very reliable as there's nothing for anything to catch on during release. Servo is hooked up to the plane using a connector. This is pulled loose the second the plane begins moving forward. A switch on my tx activates the servo. I also use two ropes to hold down and stabilize the launcher.

Hi, all - I am SO psyched to have found this string! I'm an obsessed RC airplane enthusiast who commutes between downtown Chicago (South Dearborn and Van Buren) and Marblehead, MA (about 10 miles north of Boston) every week. I've been doing this commuting thing since September of last year and have been trying to squeeze all of my flying into the weekends when I'm back in MA - since I have two kids, a wife, and an outdoor railroad to tend to at home (really), this hasn't been working very well. I've been planning on getting a radio for out here and a decent charger so I could start flying locally, but have been putting it off since I didn't know where the heck I'd be able to fly. I fly off of the beaches in MA all the time, but got the impression no one did the same thing here. That's a long way of saying that I'd love to join you guys sometime soon when you're flying on a Friday or after work!!! At home, I've been flying an E-Flite Beaver on floats and a bunch of foamies (e.g., FMS Stuka, Dynam PBY Catalina, etc.). Anyway, I'll monitor this page to see when folks are heading out again to fly ... Jon Linde

Figured I post a few pics of the PBY at Redd's Pond, a small pond in Marblehead where I fly every now and then. It's a beautiful location, but a challenging flying experience since it's surrounded by trees.

Oh Adam, this last video, I included a lot of clips from my FPV camera with the 6mm lens so you can see the resolution. I would never have flown that close to the tree with a 3.6mm lens. I could make out every branch, even no leaves.

Beaver, PBY, Stuka, and FMS BF-109 winging it's way to the Chicagoland area. It's going to be expensive maintaining two sets of equipment (2 radios, 2 chargers, 2 toolboxes with connectors, etc.), but definitely worth it.

I'm going to Meigs Field to try out my FPV stuff this Saturday. anyone up for flying?
