Sound for Eddie the eagle

Some of you may have been following my Large RC Bird Project. I'm trying to find a way of putting sound into Eddie.
I've had the thought of using a cheap mp3 player with a small amplifier and speaker to give him a voice. I can use a servo to switch it on and off. My problem is downloading a decent mp3 of a white tailed sea eagles sound. There is a good clip on
http://www.rspb.org.uk/birds/guide/w...le/gallery.asp Unfortunately I'm unable to download this as I don't have QuickTime Pro.
Can any one download this and convert it to mp3 and send me the file?????
Has anyone had any experience of putting sound modules into gliders? While generally not in favour of noisy planes on the slope (particularly wistles etc) it would be good to turn on the motors/jets for a fly-by across the slope. I'm planning a DC-3 for instance and what a gas it would be to turn on the twin multi-cylinder radials briefly as I fly accross the slope for scale effect.
Your comments would be appreciated.

I remember seeing something that was not much more than a little computer fiberboard and a speaker on it at Radio Shack - and it could record up to 30 sec. of sound for controlled playback - maybe this would be your answer - and you could just put the unit to the speaker of your computer and record what you need from there.

I guess something similar needed for Radio Shack in the UK.

Can't wait to see Eddie fly though - This has got to be the longest anticipated build thread ever!

At my LHS they have a speaker with the sound of a "merlin" V12 prerecorded. maybe they have something similar in the UK.

I'll see next time i'm out there about he manufacturer. I know it was 3 letters, and came in this really ugly yellow and red packaging.

It was ~$30.

Not so sad!
When you don't sleep you have twice as much time to build

this is "wav" file (standard Microsoft Windows file),
you don't need QT to play/save it.
there are lots of free app's out there to convert audio file into mp3's

Colin,

I can convert the .wav to .mp3 or whatever format you want. I can also strip out just the part you need. Contact me at rcbrust@epix.net if I can help.

Colin,

There's an article on page 12 of the October 2005 issue of QEFI by John Ranson on how he put sound into his Heinkel HE111 which you might find helful. I think the set-up added 16 ounces of weight though............two Visaton 4 ohm speakers and two 15-20 watt amplifiers running off 12 volts. HTH
