After reading a thread mentioning a "slimer", searched this beginner dictionary thread, but couldn't find one...
After searching forum-wide, it seems to refer to a gas-powered (also referred to as "glow" or nitro) plane...makes sense now .

I keep seeing the term "prop speed." Is this the same as RPM?

Could someone explain how electric model motors are rated/described...
I see 400, 300, 500... I see 2408, 2410 ... I see 14, 16, 18... And I have no idea how these relate or even if they do to the size/power/type of motor and/or expected output. Does it tell me what battery packs/ESCs I can pair it with? |

They do not directly relate in any way, shape or form. There is no standard of naming motors.
I look for max volts, max amps, max watts and KV, or 1000RPMs/volt. Then I look at dimmensions for fit. |

Thanks, I just wondered if I was missing something. I'm used to specing commercial motors for applications so I can handle volts/amps/etc...

Thanks. The posts clarify the whole "system" concept. Great info for anyone new to power systems and application. Essentially the same process for specifying any electric power system.
But very useful for knowing how to determine what you want and where to find the information. Much appreciated. |

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to the LHS to buy a new ESC to replace the one I broke on impact this week.
