Hey Mr. Houng-wen Lin, what ever you do take your time with the p 38 and make it as nice as the c-130. Keep it as close to scale as possible. I love my c-130 I have 2 of them.

HaHa! Aint that the truth? I like GWS, but I'n not gonna put off buying another model just to wait on GWS. I'll keep buying planes and when GWS comes out with something good I'll pick it up too.

I think I told Mr. Lin I'd buy 10 of them the day they came out as well... I'm serious about it too.

Agreed. It's truly insane how long it has taken to get the P-38 to the shelves. Talk is cheap, Mr. Lin -- just do it!

A thought just occured to me -- to get around any potental legal issue, what if GWS released a one-of-a-kind airplane, which had one fuse. If you purchased TWO of these GWS aircraft, you could put them together as a P-38.

Blaze.45,

Red 61 is not that far off. If you think that mating 2 planes is akin to making a cow jump over the moon, then I have done it. I mated 2 GWS P-51's together to make a very nice flying P82/F82.

In fact if you look closely at the profile of the GWS P40 you will notice very strong similarities to the P38 booms. If you cut off the razorback, add a couple of strategically placed air scoops and use some good old fashinoed modeling skills, a fair modeler could build a very nice stand-off scale P38.

Granted it is not the ARF that everyone has become so comfortable with, but it can be done.

Besides, isn't that what modeling is all about? Showing up at the flying field on a beautiful morning, greeting all of your other flying buddies, looking at whatever new creation someone has in-evitably brought?

I get a sense satisfaction and pride when I show up with a new plane that everyone recognizes, but no-one has, because I have used some enginuity and built it either from scratch or by mating 2 kits.

Here is one for you to try if you feel like it....mate 2 ME 109's together and make a Mosquito.....or turn a ZERO into a Texan.

The whole point of this long-winded post is to break away from the "I'm waiting for the ARF to come out", and let your imagination be your guide, look around and see what can be built from what is available, use some of those modeling skills and create something that no-one else at the club has. It's a hobby for criminy's sake....have fun with it!

mlh1961 -- while I greatly appreciate the support, I must remind you this is a GWS Twin Fighter thread; not a "I'm going to build my own P-38 from scratch" thread.

I like the idea of turning two P-40's into a P-38 -- I will have to give that a closer look. I've already turned a GWS Zero into a Texan (that's just a paint job). I've also spent over 100 hours building an Air Devil P-38 -- that kit was supposed to be ARF as well. My Air Devil P-38 only lasted 4 flights (I kept losing a prop adapter, resulting in a thrust imbalance, which ultimately led to an unrepairable crash) -- I no longer have the desire to spend so many hours building... If I did, I would order $60 worth of parts from www.nastytoesaviation.com, and build a P-38 from scratch.

I'm all about flying -- with or without the few flying buddies I have. I flew for over a year without any flying buddies -- it's not about showing off, it's about the unity of me and my airplane. Two years ago, GWS promised us an ARF P-38 -- we're encouraging them to deliver.

LOL -- duh! I just realized the GWS P-40 hasn't yet been released either! So, I can't put together a P-38, using two P-40 kits...

Now we're back to square one...

Surely if you mated 2 ME109's it would make it an ME109z.
