My pleasure. F-14 prototype 2 maidened yesterday, not too badly considering the wind (10 mph). Not quite as agile as the F-16XL with its huge elevons, but still capable of axial rolls, inside and outside loops etc. I used some align 6g servos in it, they don't seem to have as much throw as the gws servos I typically use, but I could be wrong. Nonetheless, I have some more work to do on the plans (though not much) and I will build a third prototype for build guide purposes - then post 'er in its own thread here in this forum. BTW, my Thanksgiving project is to take the double sized F-14 plans I have printed out (60 pages!, but many with just blank space) and construct the "monster" F-14. Already went to Lowes and bought a 4x8 sheet of the 1/2" thick stuff.. Still need to get the motor,gb and battery though - still thinking himax 2025-5300 using Cobri 20 gearbox, 3s, and probably a 9x6 or 10x7 prop (should produce 36-38 oz of thrust @15-16A). Does anyone have any other suggestions in terms of motor for this beast that will keep me under $200 ranges for motor/gb/battery/esc?
Kyle

I've got a spare 2025, if you're interested I doubt I'll be using it for the intended purpose (balsa model, who's kit is still in the box)... Make you a deal! I think it's in a 'D' ratio GWS box, but I can fix that to almost any ratio from my gear stock. PM me...

Cheap Battery Packs had some 1800 cells cheap. They are big and flat, seem to perform OK at 15a or so. I have a couple 2s packs I built and am happy.

The Himodel 15a esc is the cheapest going that I know of. I'm hoping to get a few more myself.

I'll bet as a tractor it'd be a real prop hanging hovering machine ....?????
Gene , we finally got some 3s1500 packs (kinda' big for my taste ) that really make the BP-21 come alive ...Serious improvement , could we have been "Underbattery...ing " the motor .... 3s1200 weren't so powerfull, disappointing ,one might say ... sorta'

Yea, it's surprising how low the voltage sags on those old cells. I ran into this with my Yak... The old ET1200's barely flew it, the T830's were OK, but the M1000's are insane!

I gave up and got several new packs. Same thing with my T520's, the K340's kick their butt! No fair! (I ordered some more, they are blowing them out at FMA)...

ad no idea what was going on .... BIG difference ... I guess I gotta get some new packs (again??? will this battery thing never cease???) CBP1800 ??
Funny you mentioned that .... OFB , who you met , has been trying to use the very first lipo packs he ever bought with the new higher amperage motors, very disappointing results as you can imagine ... ALWAYS blames the charger... or BOB ..... Wait till I tell him what's wrong ... again ...

Yea, always blame the old man... or the kid... whichever is appropriate You should take a Watt-meter, or a cheap substitute like a pair of $3.99 Harbor Freight meters wired for amps and volts...

ggunners has been kind enough to make a FMS model of this F-16XL.. You can find it, along with some other great models he's designed at his website here:

I cannot find the build guide on the "filelodge" site. It is down or something. Can you redirect me? I'm relatively new at this, but learning lots, quickly.

More to come

Sorry about the not perfect quality of the video. Most of it was with the F16 XL on 1/2 WOT. AUW with litestorm 3s 1200 and GB cd motor special edition, puts out tons of thrust w / 8x4 prop. AUW is 12 oz. Painted it w/ Krylon fusion Red and 2 GWS Picos are the servo's. Pictures below.
Somewhere around 45 seconds into the video, you can see the F-16 almost stop in it's own tracks and loop in the space of it's own body.. It was cool. I also think that I got a couple of rolls on tape, but I was shooting the vid and flying at the same time, so hard to be sure. Flys great. Will go into a bank fully on its side and almost stay there with no elevator. It's fun.
Will not be anywhere near an internet connection till Monday night. More when I come back. Thanks Glove..

Bo

ggunners, Flew your FMS model and it flies great. I'm going to have to learn how to do that stuff too.
