Mexico, I thought I would be the first to throw a lehner on the front of the Katana!

Oh well, glad you like the setup. Do you have an AUW? How about without battery?

BTW someone asked about the weight of the 1020. The can itself weighs 2.2 oz, not sure about the cobri gearbox.

I got a few more great flights in yesterday and wanted to give everyone an update. I'm running a 11x5.5 prop with the A30-28S and use high rates for 3D and low rates for pattern. Torque rolls are great as long as they are entered properly; I was actually able to hold them better with my elevator on low rates. The elevator and ailerons are very sensitive so I'm going to turn down the low rates a bit further to help smooth things out when I try to do pattern sequences. As others have mentioned, almost full rudder is needed to maintain knife edge so I don't think I'll be doing any knife edge loops, but it should be fine for stall turns. Slow speed flight is great but I experienced a lot of wing rock when I was trying to harrier. I tried mixing in a small amount of spoileron but will have to do more I guess to keep it steady.

Spins and flips are amazing but I still have to do some work to get the plane to track properly as it seems to roll to the right everytime I add elevator after coming out of a dive. I also had to mix in a lot of right rudder on my uplines to keep them vertical so I'm thinking that I'll need to add more right thrust. I'll probably add a very small amount of down thrust too since it was climbing a bit everytime I added throttle. I was a little disappointing in the tracking of the MK but I think it will be okay once I trim it out and mix out any bad tendencies.

I'm curious what you all have done to trim out you MK. Any suggestions appreciated.
thanks,
Steve

Steve,
Where do you have the CG set at?
I balanced mine at 88 mm from the LE at the wing root and it is perfect !
Hands free inverted.
Also, have you downloaded the "Trimming Your Model" from http://www.dmac.org.uk/ ?
Go to "Downloads", accept the disclaimer and download the article.
And while you're there, get the "Flying Aerobatics" article as well.
VERY informative...

Jim

I thought I would check-in and also update my testing on the himax 3510-1100 setup. Got a chance to fly the KM several times this weekend and tested the 11x7 E prop on saturday and the 12x6 E today. Not much more punch on the 11x7 over the 11x5.5 but quit a bit faster. I guess this would be good for pattern flying though. Really liking the performance from the 12x6 today. Allot more power and almost as fast as the 11x7. With the extra power I was much more confident in slow speed manuvuers. It took several attempts to get a good hover in and control the torque rolling. She will torque roll aggresively if you use to much throttle. Definatley going to stick with the 12x6 for the time being and get more comfortable with the plane. I flew for about 8-9 minute sets on the Tanic 2220 3s packs and still had plenty left to give. Recharging took about 1.1-1.2 mah per pack. An added benefit of the 30oz+ AUW was the 10-12 mph winds in the afternoon were very little factor except on landings where it wanted to float forever. Really enjoying this plane right now and can't wait to get in more stick time. We (daughter and I) had a banner weekend of flying as the weather was very cooperative. We flew 7 planes and a heli yesterday and 5 more today. Flew every plane in the squadron but the Wattage decathlon as we ran out of batteries and time. We took advantage of the nice fairways at the local closed golf coarse before the snow sets in. This is a great thread for KM owners and offers lots of proven setups and advise for this great model.
HAPPY FLYING!!!
