Are speed 400 motors all made by the same manufacturer?

I took the motor out of my Sky Scooter today and noticed it was made in China. I matched it to a Graupner 400 that I have and it's exactly the same. I mean all of the holes on the motors are identical. All of the markings are the same. Are all of the speed 400 can motors made in China?

All speed 400 size motors are differently labled Mabuchi 380's. There are different winds and other variations, but they are all made by Mabuchi. There are a few other manufactures of brushed motors, but the majority of everything you see from N-20's to speed 700's are Mabuchi.

Or to be accurate MOST S400 motors are Mabuchi RS380s. 4.8V ones aren't and some of the ones sold by people other than Graupner aren't either.

You also have to recognise that being Mabuchi RS380s doesn't make them equal it just makes them the same size and shape. Both the Graupner 6V and 7.2V motors are Mabuchi 380s but they're very different. Some of the others as far apart as those two.

But none of them are specifically made for E-Flight. They are all commercial motors made in the millions for other purposes.

And motors like the ball-raced Permax 400BB are different again to the stock 'can' 400 motors, even if they are probably made by Mabuchi as well!

@Steve: What makes you think the Speed 400 Race, 4.8V is not made by Mabuchi (China)?
@Bill: The Permax 400BB, like Speed 480 (and 480L or 480 Race) are made by Sagami. Jurgen
