How to avoid other's radios to interfear with my own channel ?

Does anyone know if there is a simple way, using the 72Mhz band, to have a secured channel with the plane, meaning, no one could interfear with their radio, on my plane ?
And ligth...

I heard so many sad stories that some planes definitively would be worth some extra money, to be on the safe side.

The only safe way (with the technology we have) is to fly at a field with frequency control board.

Thanks Andy.

I was afraid that would be the answer or that I would have to fly on an island, far from anyone... which sounds no fun, too.

We have the board already, and we already saw some guys last week, who came, and just ignored it, and of course, ran into someone else's radio frequency.

A friend of mine is using the 35Mhz range, which diminishes the risks for him as most of us use the 72Mhz one here, but still, it is not full proof.

I wish someone will sell some cheap/small/light devide soon, to authenticate on a 1 to 1 combination, radio connection, in order that no one else will be able to interfear at all, 100%.

Do you know of anyone working on such thing already ? I bet many of us would be interested to get such plane saver.

A "combination" or code won't do anything. If someone swamps your signal, your receiver is not going to hear anything (imagine one person yelling in your ear while you try and listen to another person)..

Andy,

I am more thinking about a unique code, like your car keys, or something like that.

I am not in any way specialist on electronics but I can see, with today's technology, a device that will put a unique signature on your radio signal, and only the receiver with this unique key, could decode it.

kind of a pasword thing, on the protocol level. I see that Cell phones already have something similar, to prevent unwanted aliens to hear or disturb your conversation.
Don't you think there is a way to port this technology to us ?

Almost like having a small firewall on your radio, with denial of attacks, in case

Unfortunately as Andy says it won't work. However clever you get all you will do is stop anyone else from controlling your plane. But if their signal is strong enough it will kill your signal so you won't be controlling it either.

I'm afraid NASA would just take control of ALL the frequencies and use them for themselves. On the other hand, why would NASA need a RC unit??? Maybe piloting a glider remotely on Mars of something like that?? Will my plane get close enough to get glitched???

Frequency problems

Can you imagine what would happen if someone like Microsoft came up with a system? The term 'crash' could have a whole new meaning.

Tony

(I shouldn't really slag them off anymore. Since I got my new machine last November - with XP - it hasn't crashed once, despite my best efforts)

VP,

you have a point...

So let's turn the question differently, how could it be resolved one day, hoping for a better life for our children

This is probably really expensive but, buy your own field/farm!!!
I have 50 acres and am the only one who flies on it. Father in law flies but Firebird XL's don't count!

I've always wondered if a transmitter could be made as a switchable double-sideband unit. Eliminate the carrier and transmit on single side-band. The rx should be capable of receiviing both side-bands. When glitched you could switch to the other side-band (or could it be done automatically??).

Just a thought. The real solution would be to design a 500 watt transmitter for your frequency, and then nobody else could probably shoot ya down
if they wanted to .

Kinda like what I did as a kid with my CB set... a 500 watt linear amp and a Moonraker six element beam antenna.

CAN YA HEAR ME NOW?????
