My 4s fits just fine Justin
Seriously I might move the ESC to above/behind the fan unit to get more battery room fore and aft.

After rereading the sabre build thread, Some people glued the tray on top the fuselage side beams instead of near the bottom of the beams and they lost almost a 1/4" of battery room. big mistake but I don't blame them as the tray fits almost perfectly on top yet it fits like crap where the instructions say to glue it!

hi, I just ordered a mig from the local HS...should be in near the end of the week!
The Huck did come with a speed 300 motor included in the kit. Mine with the mark 1 fan also. It flew pretty well but slow. Was still a lot of fun. But I did like going 90mph alot better..

Do you already have a lipo charger or packs? That could make your decision. Also what brand of packs would you be getting (from the hobby store or online)?

Can your charger work on 4s lipos? That would be the ONLY draw back of buying the 4s packs, if it cannot (2) 2s packs can be used. The 4s setups pull less current than the 3s ones so you can use smaller batteries. Either way the packs need to be able to cope with 20amp currents (or 28A for the /3 on 3s). If you want to stick with 3s packs, it would just be easier to use the Himax 5300. Sorry I do not have specific data for the Himax 5300, but it pulls between 18A-23A.

I don't know if my charger can work with 4s lipo .... it's an ULTRAMATE 10.
I've just seen on the site of graupner and it will propably work !!

With a 4s Lipo can I use a Mega Brushless Motor like 16/7/4 - 3 ??

Sorry for my English and my stupid questions .... I'm a beginner ...

On 4s you'd use the himax 2025-4200 or the Mega 16/7/4. The 2025-5300 and 16/7/3 on 4s is getting up there in amps and is only for the "extreme" guys. I will look into the Ultimate 10's specs tomorrow (it is almost 1am here).

Your english is fine and your questions valid. Feel free to participate. Welcome to RCGroups.

Hi Roccobro,

How do I tell if the used Alfa fan I bought is a MK1 or a MK2? The seller stated that it came from a Mig.

The rotor will tell you. The easy ones is that there is a radiused "berm" around the center rotor screw- Mk1 was flat and had nothing. Second, the rotor blades span the whole width of the rotor, LE of blade started at top, and TE ended at the bottom. Mk1 had narrower blades that did not go all the way. If you have calipers, there are a .5-1mm of diff in fan housing ID-but not really important. And the OD of the mk2 motor tube is 1mm larger OD than the mk1.

Thanks Roccobro,

I checked and I have the MK2. Any guesses on what thrust I can expect with the MPJet brushless motor and 10 Nimh cells?

I am enlarging Esprit440's Panther plans by 40%. It will be about the same size as the Alfa jets. I am hoping for decent sport plane performance (loop from level flight) rather than unlimited vertical.

Thanks for your help,

Steve
