No. It will just keep it from rolling and pitching. You need a way to detect and correct acceleration to auto-hover.

Some folks do use gyros on cyclic for stability on multi-blade, flybarless setups.

I have seen this suggested before. Full size heli's (Sea King) do this and they use GPS to keep position. I would reckon that its a bad idea. Go ahead though if you think it would work. Just remember to video it

No, it will only hold it level, for a little while.

Heading hold gyros drift very slowly, so eventually it will tilt and slide into the ground and crash.
