Question
What kind of batteries are you using?

I've been flying HLG's for quite a while now and have always liked to put out the question of batteries to other pilots to see what they use and why.

Are you using nicads, NiMH, sizes, and reason for using this.

I found some 150 mah nimh 1/3 AAA's from Thermal Gromet Works that fit perfect in my Sidewinder. Haven't found another source though. Weighed almost the same as the 50mah nicad's.

I also am using the Thermal Grommit 150mAh NiMH's and really like them. And, l found another source for them. Batteries America has basically the same cell. It's their AP-150 1/3AAA cell.

ditto here - single 830 mAh cell from Qualcom cell phone pack. These are actually panasonic CGR1750 cells and work great.
.9oz for 4-5 hours of flight time.

This sounds great but what voltage are they running at? I just recently got two 720mAH Rx packs Batteries America. Can't wait to see how they work.

One cell provides 4.2v, which is plenty for the GWS R-4P receiver.

I am using an FMA Extreme5 receiver. The spec sheet says that it is full rated at 3.5 volts. I tested both the receiver and servos (Ikarus microgyro too). The they all worked down to less than 3.1 volts.

Q

PS. FMA has an even smaller and lighter receiver just out.
