power options for an e-sailplane
looking for an outrunner to power my omei sailplane, not looking for crazy power. just for power to climb and get out of trouble. i intend to mostly use it from the slope.
i dont want do use very large lipo packs like 3S2P and the best would to saty with my current 12c 3S2200 PQ.
i would say i need around 220 Watts. and a 10x6 folding prop
what would fit me best?
P.s if any of the things i wrote is nonsense please feel free to correct me.

AXI works for me
I have several 2808/24 axi's. 9X6 folding prop with 3S 2100 gives me near vertical on a 32 oz 2 meter glider (not omei). It's about 18amps/180 watts. If your glider is heavier, you might to need to go to the next size 28 series. Check the amount of space in you glider's nose and the diameter of the Axi, it was a real tight fit to get mine in.

I use an AXi 2820/12 on my Omei and get a climb rate of around 1700 ft/min. on a 2100 LiPoly. I also have another with an AXI 2826/12 but have not checked the climb rate.
I use AXI 2808/24s on several of my other smaller models. They are a good motor. This should be good for more sedate but adequate performance on the Omei. On a 10x6 APC electric prop you should get about 180 watts drifting off to 155 using a TP 2100 12C pack. The Omei fuselage is a bit light in glass layup. reinforce around wing and canopy openings with galss or carbon tow.

An AXI 2826-10 would net you about 1000g of static thrust easily (@15A) without stressing the battery. Once you change to a 20C pack you could choose a 11x7 or even bigger.

I'm glad to see this thread, as I was about to ask the same question! I'm going to scratch build a "mini-hotliner-on-a-dime" (own design) and was considering using a low Kv outrunner like the JustGoFly 450XT with a folding prop. I realize most gliders used planetary-geared high Kv inrunners, but (in theory, anyway) a low Kv outrunner should do OK, and it'll fit the slim nose of a glider.
I'm shooting for an AUW of 16-20 oz, and have a couple of PQ2200 3S packs I could use. Or, I might go 8-10 cells NiMh if the weight budget allows it.
What's been the general experience with the 450XT? I have a CC Phoenix 25 (currently in my Mini Funtana), but was also looking at their new Thunderbird 18 for this setup.
Heck, if it doesn't work well in the glider, I'm sure it'll be fine for the 25 oz warbird model I'm working on.
