Buyers Beware

Modelers in the San Fernando Valley beware. The New owners of the Hobby House, at Vanowen and White Oak in the Valley will not credit merchandise back against your Credit Cards. They will only offer Store Credit for Merchandise returned. In My case they sold me the wrong hardware for an AXI 2826/12, and will only provide Store Credit.

This is not the policy of the previous owner. It is not the Policy of Hobby People, nor with any other store I do business with here in the Valley. Iíll use up my store Credit, and thatís it. We all have alternative places to shop.

Walk in, drop the merchandise off at the counter, take a picture with your digital camera, walk out, call your credit card issuer, and tell them you want to do a charge back. Tell them they sold you the wrong product and you returned it, now you want a refund. You have proof you returned it. The CC company will give you your money back.

Thats the policy for most hobby shops- encourages sales for them. If you had a business, would you rather give store credit, or money away?

Isn't hobby house now owned by the heli-hobby guys? I thought they took it over, when Jay retired. Jay originally treated me like a jerk, when I was 12 or so going in there, asking for advice. he finally gave me some respect as I got older, or at least he realized I actually had money to burn...

It may be good for the owner to only give out store credit for refunds but not if he doesn't have any customers left. Seems like a money making gimmick to me. I'd probably steer clear too.

Not only that but the charge back will cost them upwards of $30 or more.
