cheap westechnic servo's???

I was wondering if there would be any type of market for servos the same size accept cheaper?? The materials can't cost nearly as much as their price. If there is anyone interested I'll see if I can make a cheaper one. (Less than $40) If there is no patent for the westechnic servos I can probably make them identical.

There's definately a need, but I'd beware of copying them exactly.

Also GWS has announced a 4 gram linear servo coming out in the near future. Hopefully it will be affordable like everything else they make.

The HS-50 can be lightened to about 4.5g (my weight, others may vary). The Microflight article says theirs weighs 4g. If you can make less than 4g for less than ~$35 you probably would have a good market.

Keith,

Is there a link for how to lighten the HS-50? I have a couple brand-spankin' new ones from Todd that I'd love to hack up.

Thanks!

Mike

I believe the wes tech servos are hand made.
Labor maybe your biggest cost.

I guy from our club makes a kind of kit to be used with pager motors. Same configuration as the WES and similar weight. His email address is: cfouweather@netscapeonline.co.uk

Does anyone have a westechnik servo? If I can find out the number of the chip (the numbers on the chips) that would help.
