Stefan,

Nice videos, thanks. How many amps was the Fun 480-55, 4.2:1 GB, RFM 14.4x14, and 9-GP2200 pulling? It sounded like a turbo Porsche at the tracks!

Yes, the sound is very cool.

How many Amps? About 130-140 A. It depends a little bit on the quality of the cells.

Greetings,
Stefan

Wow, I had no idea that motor would take this much power input. It does sound mighty smooth, and the performance impressive!

Some of your motor runs seemed pretty long to me now that you've posted the amp readings. How long did that motor last?

Stefan . . .

Was very impressed with the video of your Excite in hotliner mode . . . the video said that the prop was a 14.5 x 14, but what brand was the prop and spinner/yoke? I assume you were using the long nose with 30 mm spinner?

I have one of these planes and have been trying to figure out the ideal mini-F5B setup . . . looks like you've already found it!!

Hey Troy!

Thanks ! Are you not there?
I know that you are not in the team but maybe you are in romanie as helper.

Romanie will be a very interesting wc becaus i don´t think that it is as easy as in england for the german to win the wc. Maybe there are some US or austrian guys maybe beat them.

All in all i´m looking forwar to the wc.

Greetings,

Stefan

Jay, you can see the Excite F5D this weekend. Three of us have them so far. It is a great looking plane. I will pull the setup out of the Flash 60E for starters.

Awesome! I have been wanting to see these airframes. Maybe I will attempt to get some video of them.

F5D set up

I see you have listed a fun 480/33 as the motor running on 12 cells. This motor is listed at 35 amp. That sort of set up looks more like 70.

Do you have special motors?

In F5D you also run the batteries above their specification - it doesn't have to last forever .

It is a original standard FUN 480-33 from Kontronik. We had no problem so far.
You also could use the FUN 480-37 with 12 cells and the CAM Speed 4,7x4,7".
I flew this set up this year in Perg.

Of course, the batteries last not forewer. But if you work carefully with the cells you will be able to do about 20 cycles (charge/discharge) with full power. We made the experience that it is better to charge the GP 200 AFHR with 3A and not more.

Greetings,
Stefan

Only 3A? I charged My GP2200's with 10A in last competition. No venting so far I only did that because I was in hurry...

GP2000 x 12

I must be doing something wrong with my packs as I have vented 1 or 2 cells in all 4 packs.

All cells are Zapped at 100 Volt. charged at 4 amp (possible problem) temp at about 45 deg going into the plane.

The flights are very fast so I have been very pleased but after only 4 or 5 flights they are all starting to vent.

Anything I am missing? Should I cycle the packs at very low current to start with?

Tips would be nice as its getting expensive.

Thanx

Rob
