I know this thread has been long down, but just wanted to see if any other flyers are still flying this model.

A friend of mine built this for me, a copy, but im glad it performs very similar to the DD.

No, sold it a little while back. Great model, but I have several larger models now.

My Dad and I just purchased one and put it together. Went with the AXI 2820/10, and Jeti 40 amp ESC.
We have two ThunderPower 3s 2100 prolite lipo packs in parallel. We can't balance the model with these packs. We have found, that it is going to take 3.6 ounces of weights near the motor to balance. I am hoping that will be ok? We are planning on just epoxying the weights in really well.
I am not sure how much weight we will lose by going with carbon fiber pushrods.

Not much, but because it is so far behind the CG, you can lose a good bit of that lead.

Windmilling Prop

We have the AXI 2820/10, and Jeti 40 amp ESC turning a 13x7 CAM Folding Prop. The prop continues to windmill even after several adjustments to make sure that it will fold back without resistance if you hand hold the plane vertical. Any thoughts as to what we can do for a countermeasure to prevent the windmilling prop?

You have to set the BRAKE on the ESC to stop the motor. Then the prop will fold.

Brake, okay! We thought it was enabled, because the manual says by default it is enabled. But we just checked, and it was not enabled. So, we have switched it and that should fix it. thanks!

Mine finally came in... Inspected the contents of the kit and surmised that the fuselage is a little thin... perhaps it is built this way to save on weight.

How come there is so little talk about this glider on rcgroups? I would think this glider is comparable to E-flite's Ascent and there are so much more posts about the Ascent.

I have been flying my Dust Devil for almost 2 years now, many flights. I have a Multiplex 4:1 gear drive motor with 13" folding prop. 2 Hitec 81 servos, and a Polyquest 2500 ma 3S battery (needed the nose weight). Awhile back I installed the winged shadow altimeter, I have had lots of thermal flights above 1600'. My longest thermal flight was 2 hours with a 6 second engine run to launch, landed cause my neck was getting tired. I fly it in winds, calm, whatever. Its a great plane for the cost, only thing I could say bad about it is I could never equalize out the downward pitch when spoilers are deployed, ran out of mix throw, but that may be a transmitter problem. . But I am used to it now and its a non issue. One other thing, I used carbon fiber rods to the tail instead of the wire pushrods, way better and saved nose weight. Also, I added an aluminum skid fin to the fuse bottom to help stop it on landing. Buy one and enjoy, I love it....

Can you post photos of the skid-modification or any modifications you made on this plane?
