My SA CAP 232

I just wanted to post a pic of my new Stevens Aero CAP 232. I have been flying it for 2 days and it's just awsome. This was my first SA plane, but not the last. The kit was missing a few parts when I opened the box. I contacted SA and they shipped the parts out that day free of charge. The build was pretty easy though I did mess up a couple of times. My heavy hands broke a few parts during the build, but nothing major. I am running a Himax 2812-0850 on a TP1320 3cell lipo. My AUW is right at 16oz. The plane flies very smooth and the rolls are nice and clean. Landing is a breeze with this plane. I just cut power and it settles in nice and smooth. During stalls the nose just drops a little and recovers once some speed has built up. I have not been able to knife edge but i dont think I have enough rudder travel. Inverted flight is very easy. I have my CG set at the factory specs and it is a little nose heavy. I plan to move the battery back a little on the next flight. This should make inverted flight even better. does anyone know if moving my CG back will also help with knife edges, or is the Cap just not a good plane for that? Is anyone else flying this plane? If so please post your comments or tips.

That's the nicest covering scheme I've seen on a CAP232 in quite a white. Nice job!

Thanks RC. I am using an APC 9x7 prop. I did try an APC 10x7 prop today and I got better vertical performance. I was told that the 10x7 might be too much with my motor and batteries tough. My batteries did get warm with the 10x7 so I will probably switch back to the 9x7. Wow thanks for the nice comment Citabria!

And this is what she looks like after a bird (goose) strike on a high speed pass. Plane was totaled and the bird was hurt.

Ouch man! Looks repairable. Don't give up on it. It looked like a great plane! All that hard work for a stupid goose... They're overpopulated anyways. Sorry to see that on the first few flights. Get'er back flying!

Kyle it only looks like that because the covering is holding it together. The fuse is crushed along with most of the wings. A good deal of the plane is still at the field. I might get a G-Ride next. 2 of my HS55's and my receiver are gone also.

Yeah, thats not repairable. But what about reusing tailfeathers, canopy, wheel pants, tailwheel, ailerons etc on a new cap kit? Of course, it might be more fun to do something new with covering or even try the G-Ride . Sorry about your crash. Steve

Griffin everything is gone but the canopy and the wheel pants. Thanks Rachel! You guys did a great job on the design. It was a very nice flying plane. Im going to go ahead and build the G-ride once I get some money.
