Roddy, I have a varible speed scroll saw and I use a shop vac rigged up under the table to keep the dust from building up , the key to not melting the plastic is not pushing the plastic against the blade.

I have two u 47s I run every weekend . One I built and another I reworked . Both have working front dive planes and both have apc-4s in them. I also have one built and sitting on the shelf waiting for a ballast tank.

Is that easy to build in my sub.
Because my sub is allready clear.

I think that is a 32nd Parallel kit.

Only company I know of, other than OTW, to do a Type XXIII.

Thanks guys , it is a 32nd parallel kit . It is what they advertised as a deluxe kit with ballast tank and torpedo launchers.The kit was made back in 1985, but still seams to be all here minus a few small conning tower parts .I think I can hand make them without to much problem.I have pushed everything off the build table this sub will be wet in a couple of weeks for sure.
Ok Ron , What do you need to know about the dive planes? They are a very easy upgrade ,and well worth the effort. With the dive planes working and the rear planes on a apc4 you can dive within a couple of feet and cruise there all day or push the rear planes a little more and run deeper .

hi guys.
I am getting a robbe u 47. and like all my boats. i like to plan ahead. just so that i dont get overwelhem. so my question to all of you , who have ballasted the u 47. what size tank do you use? my friend has a u47. and he used a 1.5 litre tank. but he also said this did not work well. another friend. in my club uses a 500 ml iv bag . inside the wtc. so what i am asking is
A) what size to most people recommend
B) Is a water pump the way to go

I have built the robbe seawolf. and redid it. i put a 5 oz ballast tank in the boat . and fully floaded. it was decks awashed. and with maybe 2 mph. i could dive her under. i want the same thing with this big 7.
also i am planing on putting the bow dive plane sevro to the for blukhead. and then put a clevis just outside the bulkhead. just in case i need to get at the servo. just snepp the clevis. and the front part of the boat is free. the trick will be to get to the servo

When im done with the converting on mine 2540 im going to build up mine 47 and put a Engel 750ml tank to submerge it, what ive read this works fine, also a apc is recomended to leveling the boat!

You're right there. My U-47 has 750mm engle, bow planes with adc and stern with apc and she handles very nicely. 750 is plenty. If you just want decks awash you can use a 500 engle as a lot do. i am starting my boat this saturday. and open my kit for real today. damm there is going to be alot of trimming. 1) thing i noticed was the plastic that the tray is made of. is warpped. does this cause me some concern? of did i get a bad kit? did most of yours come like this ? too?

What do you use to seal the push rod shafts and the motor shaft? Do you use 0-rings? If so, how many and how far apart generally?
