SJ,
I like the detail on you con-tower. You boat will turn out quite nicely (I am now inspired to upgrade the detail on my con-tower).

Man your moving. Nice build. And guess what? It will never hit the pavement and burst into flames! I hardly fly anymore but I still love it and still do.

I took the servo and coated the outside with epoxy ,all around the seams and around the wire lead real good, then went to hardware store and got a flat rubber washer that was just big enough to fit over the output shaft of the servo. Grease the washer real good and install on servo then install you horn and tighten .I tested this setup for three hours in a test tank and not a drop of water in the servo. Easy to do and dont have to fight the linkages. I hope this helps you out canpan.

Thanks for the comments guys.

So I guess ill make a waterproof servo then :-)

Why install it under the tower?
Isn`t it easier or better to install it in the front end where the dive planes are ?

Hi SJ

As Jim said in an earlier post, the servo is easy to get to and the servo lead isn't too long.

If fitted forrard you'll need a long servo lead from the WTC and the front deck will have to be removable.

It's not too difficult to do but it's easier when the boat is up and running to maintain and service, if the servo is under the conning tower. Everybody I know with a U47 fitted a waterproof servo under the conning tower.

However, it's your boat and your call. There's no right or wrong way to do things, only easier and better or difficult and not so good.

Anyway, your doing very well. Keep up the good work.

Ohh....I thought that you glued the middle deck on, ans left the fore and aft decks removable. Better read the manual again

Heres the tower in primer.
Not perfect, but it will do.

Look at that bit that sticks out the conning tower. It makes me want to chop it off

Well done, it's comming along nicely.

well, I have been working......so not very much progress.

But I keep finding pictures that are more detailed which forces me to modify my tower all the time

I have also read a little about the real U-47, and found out that the boat was re-fitted a few times during the war. The most visable modifications ae on the tower ofcourse. I have some pictures of the same sub, with different conning towers. That confused me a little to begin with The robbe tower is "acurate" as it is of the later U-47. Im building mine as the early version.

Hi SJ, if I'm not wrong, I believe the Robbe version of the U-47 tower was the early version of the boat, not the later one, as it did not have the AA gun modification nor the enlarged wintergarden. Good progress!
