Those new cells sure are impressive! Some of those other brands really loose capacity but these hold capacity and voltage to the very end.

You discharge curve is almost indentical to mine at 10C(21A),
I used the voltage sensing pin, so, my discharge curve is about 0.06V higher at 15C(31.5A)due to no voltage loss at 31.5A
We have almost perfect match cell performance.
Comfirm this cell deliver over 97% of rated capacity at 15C.

Hey Charlie-

I'm getting some Prolite 3S 2100's and I'm intending to run them
at 10C so with my game plan how many cycles do you think I'll
get out of them?

If I should not run my pack over 145F, why the TP2100 show 149F at 10C?

here is the cell and a 3S pack I did. The 3S pack is very light as you can se on the scale.
I use them on a 6S setup on my H9 warbirds (previously 8lbs, but now rather 7lbs due to these light cells).
That's another advantage of these cells: very light, hence an easier landing, which saves plane and money...

Please help clarify somthing for me. I've read many other posts that say temperatures od 160 F damage LIPO cells and dramatically cut the number of cycles that you can use these packs for. Can the Thunder Power packs handle 169 F ?

they sure can handle it but their lifespan will be decreased.
Note that on a cba, there is no airflow, which you should provide in an airplane. Besides, the discharge @ 15C is continuous on a CBA, whereas, you could expect on your plane to slightly move the stick up and down from time to time...

Some comparisiom of temperature :
Kokam 3200 tested at max discharge rate
Start temperature 72F, end temprature 185F. delta temperature=113F
This mean if Kokam 3200 cell starting temp at 80F,end temperature would be at alarming 192F!!(80+113=192)
TP ProLite 2100 tested at max discharge rate
Start temperature 80F, end temperature 169F. delta temperature=89F
Yes, any lab constant current discharge at max discharge rate run very high temperature due to no cooling, this is not limited to TP(many temperature reference can be found in battery vault)

Thanks for the replies. So if I use one of these TP2100 packs at close to their limit, how charge / discharge cycles can I expect from one of these packs.

I did too, Charlie. Also, I used the latest software update.
My full-charge voltage may have been a little lower than yours - I charge to 4.002 and run a graph if that voltage holds for a minute or so. I've noticed that the voltage will drop to 4.195 or so, within an hour or two. But it's a matter of time versus extreme accuracy - it's already taking me a day and a half per graph, without waiting an hour after each charge.

Cycle life is affected by many factors:
1)Discharge to 90% or less if operating close to battery's limit, discharge porpotion to the capacity loss(4% lost of capacity per 50 cycles adjustment)
2)Store batteries at room temperature at less than 75% charge, 50% for long term storage(avoid direct sunlight and in vehical storage).
3)Cut short flight if abiance temperature is above 90F
4)Battery temperature should keep below 140F, this could be achieve with some cooling.
If close to their limit means something like 35-40A static
For 3D and sport plane, my estimate is 200 to 300 cycles .

I have found these cells to be outstanding. I am using a 3S pack in my Quiet Storm, pulling 32 amps at WOT. After a six minute flight, with air flowing over the pack and managing the throttle for aggressive pattern aerobatics, the pack comes down at about 115 degrees F and takes about 1500 mAh back in when I charge it. I would hope to get many cycles at that rate.
