Hangar 9's Edge 540 33% ARF plane, Thoughts?

Was thinking of getting a giant scale gasser and this plane looks like a nicely built plane. I have known other pilots with Hangar 9 planes and they looked to be well built. Ive always built my own, never had an ARF. Now that I dont have as much time, Im thinking an ARF may be the way to go.

So, has anyone bought and flown one of these planes yet? Remarks good or bad?

My son is flying one currently and bought another and is building it! The flying one is powered by a 3W 100 and he is going to be putting a GT-80 in his second one.

The plane flys Great! That is why he is assembling the second one.

What engine are you running? And what was your total weight when fueled and RTF?

I have one myself, I have been flying it for about 6mo. it has 130 flights on it with a 3W 85 twin. This motor airplane combo is the best I have found out of 30 or so. Sean McMurtury helped me pick everything out, I built it to his specs as if he was going to compete with it. Sean has around 15 flights on mine and loves it. He has told me its the best flying H9 he has ever flown and the best 33% Edge he has ever flown. So with that said take it from there. Later Chris

WOW. im at 22lbs! Got to think in the thought of foamys when you want to build light. Lipos, smaller fuel tank, lighter wheels, no wheel pants, and a motor that is less then 6lbs.

Yea dont worry, i replaced the firewall alltogether, with 3/4 inch plywood, and some metal pins here and there

Probably a bit overboard.....

What are you using for smoke fluid? I am using Super-Dri I have a ZDZ-80rv in mine with a 24 oz fuel and 32 oz smoke tank. Works great, but I'm wondering how your smoke is so white. I am using a Sullivan Skywriter 753 mounted to the firewall and the RC Showcase smoke muffler on the ZDZ-80rv.

Thanks. This is my first post on this web site, so please accept my apologies for any mistakes. I've not had much experience with forums.
