Is my zero just slow?

I fly it with a 1080 prop, stock setup with 7 cells. then as I am looking through Ebay, I see this:

I don't know whose this is, but geez, I wish mine was that fast.

Don't call your zero slow. You'll give it a complex!
"Speed-challenged"?

I don't fly the zero, so I can't comment on the speed, but I've never seen a video of one flying, so thanks for pointing that one out!

With 8 cells and WOT mine is almost that fast. He could be using the 300C-A drive which has a lower gear ratio but a faster pitch speed. It wouldn't be hard to make the Zero go that fast.

You should try 8 cells. It will surprize you what just 1 cell can do.

It is Engine

Believe me. I knew the history.
I live in Taiwan. This video came from Taiwan. This flyer modified GWS Zero by using engine as power system.
Of course his Zero will be faster than yours.

I too was a little disappointed with the stock speed with 7 cell 600 Nicad and 10x8 (3B 9x6 is even slower). Appears to be slower than my SS Pro which I didn't expect. Still fun to fly, and I suspect one can add cells, change motors....... Part of the 'fun' of flying electrics . It is designated as a 'park flyer' so should have expected it. Neat to fly anyway!

Jim,
Do you happen to know what motor he is using?

I am not familiar with engine. I think he said 10 c.c. engine.
That will be better to read his web site http://home.kimo.com.tw/m52602/z.htm First generation Zero
http://www.m5260.netfirms.com/z-.htm Second generation Zero
if you can read Chinese.
But any way, you can reference his images of working.

if it is indeed an engire as opposed to a motor, it's the quietest I've ever heard. In fact, it sounds identical to my switchback. Hmmm.

Ours here in Vegas are nearly as fast!

We use 8 cell packs of Maxell 700 NiMHs. An 8 cell pack of these weighs 3.5 ounces - nearly 1.5-2 ounces LESS than 7 and 8 cell 500/600 MaH NiCad packs with MORE power and the SAME flight time (5 minutes WOT)!

These packs are by far the best value going - you can buy these Maxell 700 cells (AAA sized) for just 75 cents EACH here on the EZone! For $6 a pack, there is no better alternative! Excellent speed, low weight, good duration - CHEAP!

He may have a different motor and gearing, but out box stock Zeros would easily give him a run for the money using these 8 cell packs. 4 foot take off rolls, 45 degree climb outs - Id guess around 25-30 mph top speed for ours! Just remember - keep it light!
