Battle Of Britain Spit Colour Schemes?

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good website for colour schemes for Battle of Britain spitfires. I would really like to do one that flew from North Weald in Essex but can`t find any pictures. Anyone help out?..............Martin

Ok just checked up on my history, i`m not sure if Spitfires flew from North Weald during the B of B it was Hurricanes (i have one in Stanford-Tucks colours). But they did fly Spits during the early stages of the war from there so i stil need the scheme.......Thanks........Martin

Hi Martin, The first Spitfire Squadron to operate from North Weald was surprise, surprise No 71 Eagle Squadron, but they did not arrive until August 1941. Previously only Hurricane and Blenheim squadrons operated there during the B of B. You can get squadron histories and colour side views of their aircraft from www.raf.mod.uk/history.

Yep, during the B of B the Spits were a few miles north at Duxford.

Don't know about web sites but the Achive book(only magazine size) on the Spitfire Mk 1 by Peter Moss has excellent photos numerous schemes and a colour five view of Spitfire K9797 based at Duxford from Autumn 1938. Try some of the second hand Aviation book sellers.
