Mwaahaa! That's hilarious!

That happened to a small foamy at an indoor event I went to .... but I never thought I'd see it happen to a pattern ship!

The port wing dropped, and a tip stall occurred. The only reason it didn't snap roll was because the motors were still trying to support flight. It came out of ground effect, he dipped the nose for whatever reason, then pulled back and banked left. That's all it takes. I lost a ME-323 Gigant at exactly that same point, except mine spun in.

I wonder if that was the maiden flight of that plane? If so it's a bit of a crowded place to fly don't you think? For a model of that size a huge club field would've been more appropriate .... at least so it could've had a much longer take off run to prevent the tip-stall ....

It happened so gracefully that you'd have thought he had time to correct it with full opposite aileron and rudder.

I had only been flying for about a month when I got my Tiger Moth 400, so I'm pretty proud that I got it to last as long as it did. I was my second plane after a hobby zone firebird commander II and I managed to get about 15-20 flights on it. (1st pic)

While flying one morning, I started to turn towards me, and the plane kept banking and never came out of the turn. I don't think I did anything wrong, but who cares pilot error or no pilot error, in it went. (2nd pic)

After an entire day of moping around, I got home from work and epoxied it back together in about 2 hrs. (3rd pic)

After about a week I finally got out again and it was flying specatcularly. All of a sudden the throttle jumped up to full and was not responsive to anything I did with the TX. After about 1 min of trying to figure out how I was going to land the plane at full throttle, the heat shut down the receiver or something like that, and in it went at full throttle from about 150'. (pic 4) All the foam in the nose was smushed and a lot of it was turned into packing peanuts, so no repair. I sent it to the big landfill in the sky...

What can ya say but BUGGA

It could be worse, this guy built his moth on a merchant ship travelling the world and used to fly it at fields near ports when they berthed. One day he had a midair with another plane and the moth got totalled.

Oohh ouch!! $22000? Wow .... If it ever got rebuilt I hope they put a more powerful engine in it ...

Yes the damage to the indoor one was the result of a mid air at a NZ indoor meet. The Lightning was from a NZ club site too. Otherwise just pic them up as I am surfin around. Some, like the BD5 crash, are from (re)build threads.
