YES !! The HA Spitfires cowl is 8mm longer than the Ripmax one.
However it fits right onto the Rippers Spit with no modification. See here.

Not all maidens go perfectly, but at least you only have minor damage and will soon have it sorted.

Yours is certainly a "Full house Mouse", and with all the extra work you have done on it you had to expect a few "Glitches".

My collet is a bit long too, as well as the Hyperion motor shaft. All those are killing me...

That bit of under wing damage is barely noticible, but I want to come up with a way to make it look like battle damage from a lucky shot off a 109. Silver covering patch with rivets perhaps?

As it turned out the 11 X 10 provided more than ample power such that, just like the real one, more blades can be used to "absorb" the power. After the next series of tweaks hopefully I will be closer to using that 4 blade.

Have to avoid the nose over though. I may try and set the gear with more forward rake, but with the aft geometry it may not be possible. All part of the fun .

Can't wait to actually use the retracts. This should look great with a nice climb out and scale retracts going up with a 2.5 sec. delay. As a side benefit, there is a bit of differential from one servo to the other lending even more realism .

Still very excited to have a successful fllight under the belt esp. with a FHM (Full House Mouse). That's a keeper Paddy.

I have the perfect way for you to put a "silver patch with rivits". Get some aluminum foil tape from Home Depot(its in the plumbing or airduct section right near duct tape). Now, go to Wal-Mart and buy a dressmakers wheel(its not called that at Wal-Mart, but the associtate in the fabric departmenty should know what you mean). Its a little blue handled tool that has a metal wheel on it with flat like teeth. You cut out the foil tape to the size you want, then flip it over(while the backing is still on it) and run the wheel along the edges to imprint the rivits. Do this on a surface thats a slight bit of give(such as carboard on a counter). If you do this directly on a hard surface, the rivits wont show well. If you careful, you could do it on a couch cushion(dont press too hard).

Here is pic of my B-17 in progress using this technique. Mind you, this was my first attempt at doing stuff like this. I have seen much better jobs. But for what you want, theres nothing to it.

I originally had an aluminium adaptor and to make the prop and spinner fit close to the cowl I drilled out the adaptor 8mm. (on a lathe). Unfortunately that weakened it sufficiently that it failed. Not in the air thank goodness.
A better way is to shorten the propshaft 8mm ---best done with a cutoff wheel on a Dremel. If you do that be sure to wrap up the motor good and tight so no metal filings will be drawn into the magnets of the motor. That would spoil your whole day. I now use a steel adaptor.

Yep I am going to shorten it a bit, that won't get me all the way there. Actually I may just go have a chat with my good buddy Keith Sparks (Sparky) and have him pull me a new "scale" one....

That might be the best solution! They did such a great job on the scale lines everywhere EXCEPT the cowl. Bummer...

Wow.. thats really odd. I never noticed a smell. Used a few different brands of tape as well. Then again I smoked for a lot of years ans sense of smell is not my strong suit.

Yes Mike, put me in line for a cowl. Sparky's FII one worked out real good for me.
