What is a good high end ARF?

I am lookind for a nice powered glider with a folding prop.
I just picked up an Elexico, but want something more fancy.
Which models would be good.
What price range are they in?

You want something really high end ARF. Check this site http://www.kennedycomposites.com/ and look at the AVA-e or the AVA-e flapped, the flapped dosnt have a pic though. The price is $660 for the air frame only. I have one and it is the BEST flying e-glider I have ever flown. It floats forever and is very, very nice to look at. I think this plane was worth every cent. ...R...

The Pulsar is in the 2m/Speed 400 F5J range and has a great reputation. Very high quality. I have a Poly Sergio and love it but plan to upgrade to the Pulsar when the PS is worn out.

ARF Sailplane

I don't know what you consider high end, but I bought a Mistral 2600. It's a 102 inch wingspan and I've installed an AXI 2826/12 with a 14X9.5 folding prop and use a Kokam 3S1P 3200 mah Li-Po battery. This has flaps as well. It's not the highest end but you get a lot of bang for the buck. The plane cost me $209 from Esprit Models (www.espritmodel.com) and compares to models costing much more. I haven't quite figured out why some models with the same features and configuration cost two to three times more. Go figure.

I have been looking around. It looks like the AVA-E is a good choice, however, I read that Vladimir's planes have some building flaws. At $700.00 one would expect perfection.
I looked at the Mistrel and the Pulsar. I kind of like the looks of the AVA.
Anything out there like an AVA, but built perfectly?

Sailplane cost

When I bought my Mistral, I looked around for months to find the best buy. For $100 to $180, that got you a 2 meter at best. I wanted something with around 100 inch span and flaps, and that led me to the Mistral. I just can't justify paying $400 to $700 and get basically the same thing. I will say that the Czechs sure do make a nice product even though their instructions are pretty useless.

Pookie, The only flaw I have heard of has been on one AVA the boom wasnt straight and Barry shipped a new boom out as soon as he was told about it. Is there any others I dont know about?? The only other problem I know about is the flap control horn, is you want to get a full 90 deg. of flap you need to reshape the control horn. I did reshape my control horn and as it turns out (because the flap is so big) I only use the flap at 45-50 deg. and it works great. If I would have known this before I would have just left the flap horn stock.

The AVA-e is a little different then the normal AVA, the servos for the rudder and the elevator are in the rudder so you dont have to worry about drilling holes in the fuse and running control rods down the fuse, this way there is 0% slop!! As I said before I love my AVA-e and I fly it all the time. Another thing I like is that you can buy all the replacement parts for this plane. ...R...

Tail mounted servos, for one thing, but anything else that's unique (or cool) about this model.. There appear to be some interesting pics on KC's web site but they don't expand to show more detail..

Nice, thx..
.. those tail mounted servos have pretty hefty covers - doesn't that make the vertical stab asymetrical?

High-End?
Buy an Alpina from Tangent/Multiplex: http://www.tangent-modelltechnik.com...lpina_pro.html Add a Plettenberg 220/20 and a FlightPower 4S5000 LiPo, 18x6 CAD folder and a good ESC, get out and have FUN!
Have no idea of prices in your country (not mentioned in the profile) but appr 2000$ here in Norway.
Alternative motors: Actro 32-5! Then we talk quality...
