Well it's no secret that we intend to use Brookland raceway in Kent (near Dover). But fixing the date and finalising details won't be till early next month.

Col's said it just right. The idea is to have fun, and we'll make sure you all enjoy it, no matter what you're experience / skill level.

This race has the possibility to be the biggest get together of rc bikers ever. That in itself has to be a big attraction, but with the top world's drivers attending aswell, there will be some serious skill on display.

Can't wait

John

I can't wait either John! As soon as you guys come up with a date, I'm marking my calender. Just make sure you pick a nice sunny weekend, because barring death and/or destruction, I'm planning to be there!

I've been following the discussion about this on RCChat, and it sounds like the club there is eager to host the bikes. Any chance of getting some good pics of the track posted?

What kind of travel time is Brooklands from Skipton? I'd sure like to put in a few laps on the "home" track while I was over there.

I searched the net for pics because I just had to see what the track looks like. Here's what I found. Is this the right track?

The only thing is that I couldn't open any of thumbnails.

Did you have any problems bring your tools or bikes on the plane, when you
came here for the nationals? Just wondering what types of things
you could not bring?

Well it's 3900 miles from where I'll be coming from. What's another 300 miles through the beautiful British countryside? I'd kinda like to see where James Herriot was from anyway. . I'd just convince the wife to make it a week's vacation over there.

Lorenzo,
no problem with tools and bikes, but no fuel allowed and none in the bike's tank. We had to buy some when we got to LA. The best thing is to be open about it right from the start, tell the check in clerk what's in your bags, you'll probably be sent to the outsize luggage area for screening first.
Hope you can make it!

Steve,
No point in coming for less than a week! And if you can get the Sunday before aswell, we can put on a race at Skippy to get you in the mood (and anyone else who can make it!) The drive south to Brookland from Skipton takes in Halifax and Tibshelf aswell, but that might be overkill!
It'll be great to have you here. Is your wife and kids coming too?

Definitely the wife, probably not the kids, and certainly not my 3 yr.old son. . My wife would enjoy seeing a new country, my 14 yr old twin girls would be checking out all the boys. (At least I hope thats the way it would be). My son would keep us all exhausted. He is all boy, with endless energy!

Nobody but me would be interested in the racing.

I only asked Steve, because my wife (who has NEVER shown a smidgen of interest in the bikes) actually offered to help out by taking anyone shopping who wasn't into racing. Of course it's just a ruse to get more shoes and handbags to add to the collection, but she still offered.

Tom, I'd say about 2 hours to London, no nothing interesting in Dover and nothing around the track. In fact it's in open countryside, near the sea.
