no lol! I wanted to pick up some of the ky rotors for the BAE. looked around at setups and it's the most prudent way to do it. Use the same housings and pods and just swap rotors.

G'day Bill,

Going by our speed difference at Albury, that doesn't surprise. Could you email me your new address as I don't seem to have it.

I got one of these coming to me. What servos are you using? Is cell thickness going to be a problem (ie, no thick 5 cell packs)?

Thanks.

I buy mine on E-Zone last year and is my favourite plane so far.(i did not try yet my new Electra)
I use 3 HS 65 (?)( karbonite gear) they fit perfectly. Schubeler DS51.Motor Hacker 50/16 l/Hyperion 80 amps controller,4 800mah cell for RX. I made a new exhaust tube to fit the DS51. The cells are the Li poly lite (6S)2*3S 3300 MAH from :http://www.zebrahobby.ca/cgi-bin/cp-app.cgi.
You have to strip the cells to made a long pack who fit in the battery compartment.
You have to add ~ 2-3 once off lead to balance ( I use epoxy with sand)
Here is a picture of the pack ,very easy to remove from the plane. With this setup the Mig is a missile.....

Nice Bidule !

Post some pictures, will you ... ! What power do you have, ca. 850W? I heard karbonite gears have no play but are delicate (strip).

Mine's down for maintenance - I have to sort out a number of minor issues which have to do with a) weak paper thin intake, cracked in a number of place and now fixed b) elevator servo and linkage is binding a tiny bit which annoys me, maybe replace with digital high torque servo c) needs custom lipo pack d) slight thrust alignment issue e) my takeoff are a bit hairy as it tends to get its nose glue to the ground and f) does not want to land (high lift rg14) so needs plenty of unobstructed space.

Other than that, as a bystander described mine, it's scary fast

I did not measure watts yet. Pack is just warm after flying .
Here two pics with big friend, just painted and waiting for details

So if I understand correctly, you don't put the packs on either side of the intake, you slide the packs end to end????

Incidentally this old 2006 video shows, at the end, how the LiPo pack is inserted:

SOD ("scrape off the dirt") MiG-15 video

I was flying conservatively as a police helicopter can be heard hovering over the field

Herb - nice video. I was thinking about a Medusa 1600 kv motor on 6s. By the way, are you using a UBEC?

Joe, Not familiar with medusa but it might work. I don't use upec (ultimate plane elimination circuit) in any of my high powered edf, always separate receiver battery. 720 mah 4.8v Sanyo in the case of the MiG-15.

Kontronic has just come out with a new line of high performance Kira inrunners with integrated fans, which should be perfect for most 69mm (400,480) and 90mm (500,600,650) fan applications (esp. the long can 650 one)

Wemotec MiG-15 "scary fast"

I wonder what happened at the end ... the caption does not sound too good.

Reminds me a lot of mine - including attempts at trying to land it (endless glide).

.

WEMOTEC MIG15 First (Final) Flight (3 min 40 sec)

It is very nice , I still have mine but disassembled w/o fan & electronics.

I got tired of the scrape off the ground takeoffs, and my intake kept collapsing.

I have been contemplating doing some work to it :

Like making a nice hatch like you did.

A more scale intake.

Paint it all red (russian aerobatic demo scheme)

Getting a clear canopy (anybody... ?).

Installing retracts, I am thinking of the e-flites I have which would work (up tp 4.5lbs) and reduce my headaches.
