EA-6B Prowler Feigao/EDF-40 Mini-Park Jet
Grumman EA-6B "Prowler"
3mm and 6mm Depron, 0.5" White Foam
Feigao 5800kv BL Motor / EDF-40
Kokam 340mah 3-cell Lipo
AUW 5oz (before paint)
Plans are up here...
If you are interested in a "short kit" (foam parts only) of this jet, PM me with
EA-6B Kit in the subject line. As long as I'm not flooded with requests I
should be able to keep up on a few orders here and there.
She already had her maiden flight today (Monday) and did VERY well!
The way I have the linkages setup (super responsive) made it a little hairy at
first, but once I was gentle on the sticks it was a breeze to fly. I cruised
around, climbing and diving, did some excellent aileron rolls, and just enjoyed
seeing it fly. The elevators are linked with a piece of music wire so it was
much easier to connect the elev servo to one side this way.
The battery slot is so huge because I was working out the CG. Now that it's
known I'll fill in the large gap up front. I didn't get any video today of any of
my planes. Tomorrow's weather is supposed to be decent so I'll be sure to
get some then.

I won't be on as much for a bit as my oldest brother has had an serious
If I'm able to drop in here from time to time I will. I'll be back later.

Thanks Ivor. He's alive but has much rehab to go through after his accident.
He was crossing a street and got hit by a speeding car. I spoke to him the
other day and despite the horror of what happened he sounded good.
Nice job on your Hawker btw. It's really cool. I'm sort of partial to that name
which I chose as my nickname because I always thought the name
Hawker-Siddley sounded so cool. Eventually I will do a Harrier - a jet I've
always been impressed with.
Still no paint yet. I'm back to work Wed night and it may have to wait until
the weekend. I can't wait to get video of it flying so I can show everyone
how nice it looks in the air (and that'll be more so when painted).

Kyle (EA-6B pilot), waiting for you to chime in here. I finally got this plane
flying. Remember about a year ago when I had one that didn't fly too well?
This one flys great and will even be better after I do some more mods to it this
coming Sunday. Painting has begun and I'll post pics when I can. I have to
head back to work in a little while though. Stay tuned.

Hi Kyle, there you are. You are so fortunate to be able to fly those things for
real. I'm really happy for ya. That's so cool. Thanks for the inspirational pics.
Well, before sending you any plane to fly, let me get this guy flying really well
first. The EDF-40 version, because the way the fuselage is on mine (1/2"
thick white foam) it blocks the exhaust air so much that I lose an ounce of
thrust. It does produce a cool sound this way which is fun, but still, I'd rather
have exciting performance. I'm deciding on doing either just a 6mm depron
version with EDF, but also maybe even one with a GWS 3x2 prop on the nose
just as a puller. I'm sure that one would be extremely fast. I just want to be
able to yank and bank it, do some nice vertical climbs, and enjoy the heck out
But just to see it fly was so cool. I did about 6 or 7 laps around my field with
it and even threw in some aileron rolls. It flew very well and even unpainted
still looked nice. Once I get all the details done I'll post pics. I have two
more work days (12 hour shifts) before I'll get back to finishing it up.
I also have a friend at work who wants to come watch me fly my planes and
has offered to film for me on my weekends. So I should be getting better
video from here on out.
Stay tuned to this Prowler station.

Does anyone know if Krylon spray paint works well with foam/depron, or does it
eat it? I'd love to have really fast drying spray paint. Will search the forums as
I'm on a lunch break. My weekend starts in 3 hours. Woohoo! Can't wait to
get this bird all painted up.

NO! Regular Krylon will reduce your plane to a lunar surface type finsh. You can use Krylon H2O, craft paints, etc. I use acrylic latex enamels myself. In doubt? ALWAYS do a test sample.
