JePe A-4 Skyhawk

I just had to have it. Well its a jewel. The glass work is nice and the power train is just right. I got the basic kit with the integrated motor/fan unit, controller and bungee. Got to start building soon!

Look at the picture below. This is what separates JePe from Kyosho , a nice duct in front of and behind the fan (apart from several other issues, I know!). The ducting increases the efficiency and hence performance, speed and endurance.

OTHER'S EXPERIENCES WITH THIS MODEL ARE MORE THAN WELCOME IN THIS THREAD!

The integrated fan/motor unit

The unit is carbon and weight all up (ex controller) is 200 g (7.1 oz)

The stators are glued to the motor casing which increases cooling of the motor and saves weight.

Work started

Hi,

The ducting, inlets and some formers are now in place. Excellent part fit, I can tell you. Only minor sanding necessary. I'm starting on the wing tonight......

The inlets are nice and well rounded as on the real one. All in all I thing its a nice scale kit (a far better option than the Kyosho stuff). The A-4 has engraved panel lines and really nice details.

However, the Kyosho kits could have been so much better just by making the ducting and inlets better. I have seen the Kyosho Sabre (barely) fly on a meeting here in Norway. With proper ducting it would surely be a OK machine for sport scale enthusiasts (the same goes for the T-33 and F-16). The changes we are talking about would give a marginal increase in cost but a much more enjoyable product.

Sorry, I do not have more pictures of the plane at the moment, see the nice fan unit below. See JePe's web site for more. You'll find the complete building manual there.

Sture

Please can you measure the outside diameter and length of the fan duct?

I want to compare it with my Schubi to see if it would fit this A4

TIA

Gordon

Gordon - I'll be installing my schubi in mine - I'd expect a small rework on the intakes to make a mounting flange.

I have a FUN500-21 to try on 14-16cells (<800W) and a FUN600-15 for 22-24cell operation (<1kW)

I'll start with the 500-21 on 15CP1700's which will be lighter and more powerful than what the JePe prototype flies on. ( Also 750W vs 600W on JP's)

Wow, this is A-4 is really cool! And to top it off, Jean-Paul said our two A-4's would ship next week or so, along with some P-51 "packing material". I've seen the F-16 up close and personal, and I must say, it is excellent! What I have seen thus far on the A-4 is very encouraging.

The Evil Doctor and I will both use the JePe fan with an HP 220/20/A3/S/P6 motor on 16 cells. A 22-cell HP/220/30/A3/S/P4 setup would work as well, but if retracts are in the future, I would probably prefer the lighter power system.
