Twin Boom Inverted V-Tail Polyhedral Pusher

Well, this is my full on first scratch build from the ground up. I bought some new furnature on Saturday and it came with some nice foam, so that started the whole thing.

Specs:
35" wing with polyhedral
Twin boom (bambo rods)
Zepron foam tail fins (Inverted V-Tail)
GWS 50xc motor with heat sink
3x3 prop with wobly addapter
2s 450mamp Lipo
2 x Interflight 4.3 gram servos
GWS 4 chnl Rx (pico)
Loaded Flight weight ~ 6 oz (I have not weighed it yet)

First flight went very well this morning, other than having a bit too much throw in the fins -- after removing some throw it was much easier to fly. Nice glide ratio too. (Cheap and fun).

Here is the first flight video (2 MB).

Also atached are some of build photos.

Q: Nice job !
I was surprised at how well it flew with the 50 XC. Just a small adjustment on the "tailerons" ?, and it'll be smooth. Thermals could be trouble?
Thanks for letting me fly it. Don was saying how impressed he was with all the original designs showing up lately.

Yeah, I love seeing all the original stuff showing up. I think the "tailerons" adjustment (less throw) will make it much smoother. Can't wait to fly it again.

Also, looks like you also have a UFO in your video .... that little white thing ?

The video is cool. Nice progession of the build. Unfortunately some of the cool engineering like your wing attachment aren't really visible. It flies nice.

Not bad for a chunk of packing foam.

Pretty neat! Will you be putting a camera on it?

Have you seen this webpage?

Wow, cool link. I have not seen that before. Very cool!

No, I will not be putting a camera on this one... it is way to small and light to handle a camera -- a bigger one would be great though.

My camera is staying on my SS for now.

Here's the one I tried a while back:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/product_gu...fm?kit_id=1849

It was only available for a short time as a blu core kit.

It looked cool but that's where it ended. It didn't come close to flying like yours.

Design and flight update: I trimed 2cm of the "Taileron" fins and moved the push rods down closer to the servo to lesson the throw.

Went out this morning and had a blast. I got a 15 to 20 minute flight on the 2s 450 lipo running the GWS 50xc at about half. I was doing loops and tail rolls -- amazing.

Fun to fly and easy to build.
