Anything better than a Himax 2025-4200 in a Formosa ?

I'm having a great time with my Formosa, powered by a Himax 2025-4200 4.3:1, 9x7.5 APC and 3s TP 2100. Around 16 amps static, will inside loop at 3 clicks below half throttle. Easily flies 20 minutes.

Been thinking I might try an outrunner next, something quieter but equally capable performance-wise. Would like to use the plastic cowling too, but perhaps that won't be possible with an outrunner and the stock stick mount location ?

Thanks, Killer. Will these motors mount to the stock motor stick, and will I be able to use the stock cowling ?

Yes, a RAZOR RZ-400 Brushless in the EPS-300C/350C gearbox with "C" gearing (5.33:1 ratio) and swinging the APC "Slow Flyer" 9 X 7.5 Propeller.

try the fiegao 2045-4800 in a himax gear box 6.6-1 gear and 11/4.7 prop or 5.4 wit a 10/6 apc
want lotsa thrust slap a 12/4.7 on with a 6.6 gear and use a 2100 or better lipoly 10 to 15c discharge rate i use poly quest 2200s and can get 42 oz of thrust with the 12/4.7 prop however i have to build in extra throw on the ailerons to handle the tork roll with a 12/4.7 apc
want speed go with a 5400kv himax motor and 9/6 prop on a 6.6 gear 2100mah bat or better , you could even go 5400 kv with the 9.6 on a 5.4 gear with a 2600 poly quest long pack and at least a 30 amp speed controller especialy if you plan on useing larger props.

fiegao motors can be purchased at parkflyermotors .com they are hard to come by especialy the 2045-4800 dunno why .. but any way the fegao motors are the same size as all the himax 2025 series motors however there kv is a tad higher making for a bit more power with slight amp draw increase however not enough to realy cause a problem if you use 2100 packs or better ive had the best results with the 2200s made by poly quest packs. check the specks on them at bishops power products..

if you realy want to go all out buy a lener motor from bishops and a cobri gear box

peace!
