New 2000 OS Max .10 LA

i have just purchased this engine off e-bay and was wondering if anyone knew what kind of engine it was? ringed or ABC? and how to break it in? it says how to on the plane but i will be doing ground testing first.

It's ABC.
Run on the ground to find the max rpm setting, and back off from there, and find the idle setting.
Fly kinda rich for the first few flights.
I just broke one in for a guy.. the needle setting for the first start was suggested to be 1-1/2 turns open.. I found that worked, but only after the motor was running.. To get it going I had to momentarily block the muffler outlet to get fuel to the carb, while turning the motor over with the starter.
A good motor, if not a fine motor. Should run well, last long time.

it says four turns for .10 in the manual and 1.5 turns for 25

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

i got my engine all set up and while starting it my engine spit fuel all over me!! can someone please help me!

Sounds like it's rich... Fuel spitting out of the carb? I presume it didn't start. (asking questions to supplement the guys that know what they're talking about, I'm an engine newb) If that's the case, that means the air was being blown out of the intake on the down-stroke... air is going through it backwards?!?

WAY too much fuel. Providing you can flip the motor over close the needle completely & try again at full throttle. Eventualy it will start, scream it's little head off & stop. Open the needle 2 turns & try again. If it starts, screams again & stops open it another 1/2 turn at a time & try again. You want it to sound a bit soupy at full throttle. Once it's running soupy close the needle slowly until it sounds smooth & then open it again slowly until it seems to be about 1/2 soupy, 1/2 smooth. This is about the best setting for the first 1/2 dozen runs. Then on the next few runs close the needle until it just runs smooth & no more. John.

i got it going now. thanks for the help. the needle valve weas open WAAAAAAY too much and the little engine couldnt burn off teh fuel fast enough and was spitting it out the onl was it could. and yes it was started lol
