MPX Micro jet?

Would three cells be too much for the stock 400 and gunther prop? It flew pretty fast but very heavy on 8 cads. I have a BP21 sitting here. What would be a good prop for this plane? Any replies are greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance! Chris

Hi, i was thinking of installing an outrunner sometime. My guess would be a pitchy prop as the jet wants to fly fast. I would be looking at an 8x6, 9x6, those sort of sizes.

I have heard that if you want to use three cells and a sp400, you must use the 7.2v wind version and NOT the 6v version that is probably included with your microjet

I test flew a friends yesterday. Stock motor and a 15c 3 cell 2100 Kokam. Flew great, was fast at full throttle, was nice and stable at half throttle. We cut a small opening above and in front of the motor to get a little more air going over the motor, it was pretty hot after the first flight. Using a white Gunther prop also.

You should drop to a 4" prop on the stock motor, or switch to a 7.2v speed 400 on 3s LIPO.

Even a few minutes on a gunther on 3s LIPO will permamently demag the motor, and the next time a bit more, till the motor, the ESC or the pack will catch fire...,

vintage1, We have a 2 cell batt to use. Using 3 cells compared to the 8 cell KRs, do you think the 7.2 is worth it? I don't think the 2 cell will be neer as fast?
I greatly appreciate your replies! Chris

Go brushless on 3s. It smokes.

No, it won;t, but it will last.

The performance difference beween a 6v motor on 2s LIPO and a 7.2v on 3s LIPO is not great, if anything at all.. But teh LIPO pack is lighter than 8x KAN...

IF you want performance, go to a long can 480 or Permax 450T on 3s LIPO and get a pack that will do about 20A. (2200 size)

This weighs in similar to 8 x Kan1050 and a stock 400, although the weight will be down the tail..

The heavyier it is the harder the launch and the ruffer the landing(crash). I put a GWS 350, w/ 2 cell lipo. Flying weight 10oz! It launches real easy and flys too fast to keep full power and slopes a little on a windy day. Butch

Hay Snowball,
Currently I'm running a 4530 GWS prop, w/ GWS 300 ESC and Thunder power 1320, yellow label lipo batt. Motor and batt is good and warm, but not hot and ESC is just warm. I've got several different prop sizes to try and I picked up a wattmeter, but no time to experiment. As is its too hard to keep track of at full speed, about 75% throttle is manageable. Butch

heheh im going to have to try that. im toasting my stock 400 motor and my poor tanics on a 4.75x4.75 apc prop. if i hold back and just "putt" around nothin gets too hot, but i cant control that left thumb for long. i like flying lighter, and 350 motors are cheap. ill give it a shot.

you think the 350 would hold together on a 3S lipo? maaayybe i could try controlling that left thumb

Snowball,
Everything I've ever read here on the forum and on GWS sites, says a 350 on 2 cell only. It seems every one that uses 3 cell, burns up the motor in a couple flights!!!!

Go for 4.1x4.1 mate. That is just about safe.
