"Todd's Models" has the "Stubenfliege" in kit form. Having flown the two, I'm in for a Stub' this year. My Kolibri is one of the first built in the US, still more or less airworthy, and a tough old boot.
A Stub' and a Kolibri - well, let's say the Kolibri is an Escort wagon. Does the job, hauls groceries, but can't live with my Passat, which represents the Stubenfliege
If you don't want to spend a lot, have a look around the web. There used to be several pages devoted to aspects of Kolibri building. If you can find them, buy the materials to make one from scratch and get reasonably small RC gear, you can get slowflying for reasonable cost - I'm still using my original 50mA cells after over three years of steady usage.
Hitec HS50 servos, a Skyhooks and Rigging RX, 1717 motor - the GWS-A is a big old clunky thing by comparison - matched ESC and 7 x 50mA nicads will do fine.
Look up "SmallNet". I documented my Kolibri build on there in SmallNet's early days, on a night by blow basis. It might still be around if you go digging.
To me, a Kolibri or Stub' is a must have. These models really will fly in your drive or yard - have done both. Nothing like a couple of flights up and down the street to decompress after a day in the cube! I have a "Mouse" as well, but that's an adrenalin rush, not a relaxer like the Kolibri.
Hope that helps
