Help READY TO GIVE UP ON LITESTIK

Bought the Litestik after reading the great reviews of
this Wattage product.Built it according to plans added
some dihederal all control surfaces are straight and true
with no slop or play. Using Hitec with HS-55 servos and
a 150 mAh battery,Hitec feather receiver and a great planes
c-10 ESC. I can't get this thing trimed out all it wants to do is fly
in stinking circles elevation is fine.No control over this plane
put it in a very high tree today total loss! what is the problem?
also I tried every combination of wing supports tall one
medium height ect.....

Is the CG right? What about the weight? I'm thinkning the HS-55's might be a little too heavy? How does the motor sound?

Per Wattage instructions CG 60mm back from wings
leading edge.Power is fine prop is on correct it
just wants to fly in stinking circles!!

Maybe my 60mm is not correct? Can someone convert
60mm to inches.If the CG was off would this cause the plane to just fly in circles?

It is hard to say without looking at it, but if I had to guess, I'd say the wing is warped.

Could be because it was molded improperly. Could be because of the added dihedral some people put in them. I'm not sure if you did that or not, but I've seen it happen several times.

Odds are one wing tip is drooping lower than the other.

Are your pushrods moving freely without binding in the guide?
Are you using the pushrod guide?
Did you cut and squish or sand the hinge lines before taping?

Otherwise, like Mike said, possibly wing warp, maybe you have wash-out in one and wash-in in the other?

Don't give up! It can and does fly very well.

Turning Left? Should be...

Make sure to give it a little right trim. Make the control throws as much as possible. Free up the hinges.

HS55's are not too heavy. It may be partly the CG, but mostly the rudder, if I had to bet.

Or a wing warp, but that would be pretty obvious if looked at head-on...

I think maybe I did warp the wing when I added dihederal
do I even need dihederal? BC what do you mean by
sand squish the hinge lines? yes I did cut through the
hinges completely and only taped one side please explain
the correct way. Thanks Brudford

The hinges sound fine the way you did them. If you did warp the wings with the dihedral, no sweat, just straighten them out with a little heat from a heat gun or hair dryer.

All the Dihedral does is make it turn faster/better. Without the added dihedral, there is a long delay from the time you throw the rudder, then the plane yaws (sideways) then the wingtip lifts, then it starts turning. The whole process seems to take forever in the stock configuration, but if you are flying ahead of the plane, you get used to it.

When you taped the rudder it will move back and forth both sides If you have it to close one side won't have any throw. About throw on the Rudder how much throw do you have on the Rudder you should go to the most throw you can get Mine comes out about 1 3/4 both sides.

After reading about sanding or squishing the hinge lines I tried it and it seemed to let them move better. If there is not enough gap the square edges can restrict the movement.

After you cut the lines sand a bevel on the edge opposite where the tape goes, to allow the surfaces to flex easier. Another method is to squish the edge of the foam instead of sanding it. Same result.

Make sure the dihedral is symmetrical to the horizontal stablilizer and max out the rudder throw. Use the low front wing support.

brudford, if it were a CG problem, you would have trouble with the elevator. Please ignore all posts that suggest a CG problem

That said, it could still be a CG problem, but a side-to-side CG problem, not a front-to-back CG problem as is normally assumed. Try balancing the plane laterally. Unless it's REALLY bad, it shouldn't effect the plane's turning ability.

Other possibilities could be the wing being mounted on the airplane way off center, or being mounted at an odd angle to the fuselage.

Heres a tip if its a waight problem... frome what ive reacerched the LS flies best if its 7ounces or under. But if the problem is just it not turning then it wouldent be the weight. Also if its too heavy and you cant make it liter add a bigger engin but make shure it wont make it allot heavier.

Are the control surfaces actually moving while it is in the air?

I am sure you checked for proper movement and direction on the ground. But can you see if they are moving while in the air? In other words if it is airborne and you give it a rudder command is the rudder responding?
You might have someone hold it while you give it throttle and see if the control surfaces moving when you move the stick. If they do not move then look at where the anttena (sp?) meets the board in the rx. It is not unkown for the wire to touch inside the rx near the solder joint.
Just a couple of things to check. It sounds like it is acting like a free flight model when launched.
