New Weapon, New/Old Tech Skeeter

Well it's been a week since a post was added so here goes.

I am building a Skeeter, back to the 80's. I thew out most of the old wood to start with and will change quite a few things. My fuse is done and weighs 1.2 oz. I will use CF push rods, Hitech 55 servos and perhaps a Berg Rec. My goal is a Skeeter that weighs less than 9 oz that can be ballasted to 13.

Anyone else have any old Skeeter kits?

Wow,

Will that compete with the Monarch? What kind of airfoil does it have?

Sure do. I have had several over the years and am in need of parts. There are a couple I want to get going again. One will be a loaner in case somebody wants to fly at the contest.

If I remember I'll bring it on Sunday. Of course, if you wish to donate a small amount of money my son would probably give it up easier. He did most of the work (with my supervising) on it but has lost interest in the hobby.

If you are using the stock airfoil and need tracings of the ribs I have a sheet I can xerox for replacement parts, etc.

If you could bring them on Sunday, that would be great.

I don't know if I will make the competition as the Mutt and the A/G are still in need of repairs. It's been sort of crazy here at work flying 6 and 7 days in a row. Ask Dan... ....BUT I do plan on dropping by in the afternoon.

I promise the amount donated will go to my son....and his new XBox no doubt.

Ya I'm psyched. Decided it's time to setup that Arty and get her flying. Reckon I'll sell the trusty Sappire now .... or maybe keep it as a backup.

You never have too many airplanes right?

Ask my wife that question. In my last house they were hanging in every room.

I still have your Arty program. I'll be at the contest sunday.

Well it's done. Man it took long enough. I originally wanted to build up the tail feathers but opted not to to save time. There were also a few other things I could have done as well. I wanted to come in at 8 oz but it is 8.7. I added a ballast system so I could bring it up to 10.9. Still at 8.7 it is about 2 oz's lighter than any I have heard of. If it is not windy, lol, tomorrow, I will give it a toss. I will probably fly the Blaster and keep the Monarch as a backup in the contest.
