How many amps needed for LiteStick ESC?/ What is the best battery?
Should I get a 2 amp ESC, 5amp, or 15?
I have posted the battery question in a different thread and the consensus was 6-7 nicads and 7-8 nimh, around 250-350ma. Which will give me the longest flight time? Somebody said you can get NiMh packs out of phones, true? If so what are the packs and can they be bought at radio shack?

The 2 amp GWS ESC w/BEC works great but you might want to think about what you are going to be looking for in your next plane. I would recommend going with the 5A. It's good enough for almost any park flier and still very small and light. I almost always fly with home-made 7 cell NiCds. I got the cells out of cordless phone packs from Radio Shack catalog number 23-176. I chose these because they are 300mAh cells and have been discontinued so they were only 97 cents per pack! If your local RS doesn't have this one and they aren't too busy, ask them to check the price on the 300mAh packs. They also usually have a devalued/discontinued list that should list all of the packs they have in inventory. Good luck and happy flying.

Here's some information for you:
GWS ICS-50 (2A): 6.1 grams
GP C-5 (5A): 4.9 grams
GP C-10 (10A): 5.8 grams
These weights are with wires and connectors, as they come right out of the package.

The motors use about 1.7 amps on 6 cells.
Buy yourself some protection with the 5 amp model. I use a 10 amp rated (really 15) ESC that weighs 1 gram less wires. The wires do not have to be heavy gauge at that amperage.(servo wire is fine if kept reasonably short)Higher battery count, larger prop, stalled motor, gearbox binding all push the amperage over the 2 amp rating of the small ESC.
